I’ve tried a basic spring trap and smoke bombs with very little success. I don’t want to use the poison gummy worms because of my dog and I’d rather not nuke the yard with bug killer. Are there any traps that work well?
Update. Water hose method got one today. Gonna wait for area to dry up and mow short tomorrow to flatten tunnels and watch from there.

Spring trap is the only thing I've had success with. Make sure you put it on the straight tunnels. Those are the main ones.

Even if you manage to trap them/kill them, they'll keep coming back unless you take care of their food.

How many smoke bombs did you use? I used about 8 flares in a small segment of my yard(~2000 sqft) and it killed/pushed them out to my neighbots. This is in spite of me using Merit on the lawn.

Moles/Voles are rampant in my neighborhood.

I think there was 8 in the pack. I did notice new tunnels going to the fence so maybe I’m pushing them. They’re in my raised garden now is why I’m really after them.

It probably looks like you have a whole family of moles, right? Probably just one. Here's how you do it, the only way its worked for me:
1) Find the freshest digs and mow as low as possible.
2) Afterwards, go back and be certain every mound is flat.
3) Return in one hour, maybe 2 if cool with chair and shovel with chair and shovel.
4. Very closely watch new dirt mounds.
5. The split second you see dirt move on mound, shovel!
6. Dispose of mole as you wish.

Works 90% of time everytime!

Unless you have a sprinkler system and accidentally chop a pipe with a shovel or pitchfork.

Paw paw had ground hogs down in the holler, he’d run a flex hose off his tractor exhaust.

Got sidetracked with other things but I did concentrate on mashing down the straight runs. I set my trap and it was sprung this morning but no mole. Will update as I get freed up.

What my Dad used in New Mexico. Wiener dog and fifty feet of water hose. Stick hose in one hole, turn on water. Stand at other hole holding wiener dog by the collar, let go when mole appears in hole. Stand back and watch her tear the sucker up. Treat for the dog afterwards. Turn off water.

I’ve had luck with the water hose. It’s best in the morning when you see a fresh tunnel. Stick the hose in, turn it on, and focus on the tunnel trail. The mole will make a move for the surface and you’ll see the grass move. Be ready with a shovel.

I have them really bad in my front yard. I've given up and just accepted them as pets.
