How do you eliminate common bermuda from hybrid bermuda? It’s a small enough area that I could resod, but open to other options.

Ive read of people using PGR on the common. PacLow is the one the guy used. I also have a patchwork in certain parts or my yard. Last year I used glyphosate on a large patch then made plugs with a proplugger. Not sure what I'll do long term as it's a difficult situation.

I have a 10x10 patch of common surrounded by celebration. I've been cutting at 1.25" this year and the common isn't getting thick. I usually cut it at about 2" due to limited sunlight. The hybrid is sending runners into it so I'm hoping it chokes most of it out.

My hybrid also looks much healthier I think for the same reason. It can tolerate being much lower. Going to try to move plugs to the middle of those sections.

Good luck..... that common ain't gonna go away, your best option is to round up the common, then plug the shite out of it, so you can hide what common is gonna come back.

I have spots in mine that have mutated back to one of the parent grasses, I use to worry about it, I just give mine Nitrogen and iron to darken it up,

Common has moved into my front yard as well. I have decided to embrace the bermuda. What is the con to common bermudagrass? I would not be opposed to purchasing a high quality bermuda seed and overseeding. Thoughts?

Long term, you’ll learn to live with it.

If it’s a small enough patch, I’d go ahead and nuke the area and re-sod or plug as others have mentioned. Then mow low, as the hybrid tolerates lower HOC much better than the common.

Don’t skip pre-emergent windows, because the common has viable seeds that lay dormant in the soil. It’ll come back eventually though.
