was just blowing hot air...so knew the indoor blower was fine...thermostat signal was good on contactor and outdoor fan was running but compressor wasn't...tried shutting off breaker for about 15 minutes to see if it would reset but no joy...so either compressor is out, or run capacitor is bad
put meter on capacitor and it was reading open so I knew that's what it was

I don't have enough data points, but my unit is 5 years old...it blew one the first season but was under warranty so they replaced it for free, then that replacement just blew...both the original and replacement were Chinese...I replaced with an Amrad per ronk and others on here that have more knowledge and say Amrads are higher quality

wont kill you, but it will light you up like grabbing a spark plug wire on your car.
after turning power off, use screwdriver to touch across the terminals from one connection to the other and that discharges it so its safe
