I have the Dewalt 20v that folds and has the nicer head. I love it. The one that doesn’t fold has some problems with the connections around the trigger, but that’s trivial. Recommend using .085 or smaller string for it to really cut good. Mine also throws motor bearings when I over work it but it’s $1 and 5 minutes to fix. I have to go through like 2x 5ah batteries in a row to get it to that level. That’s a lot of wacking.

I bought an Ego lawnmower and string trimmer last year. Love both. So easy and gets the job done. Just purchased the blower.

My Kobalt 80 V Weed Eater and matching chainsaw are both great tools and very powerful.

I bought the Kobalt 40v several years ago and it has all the power I need for my use. But, in retrospect, I would get the 80v because you can replace the head with the Shakespeare ugly head which you can't do on the 40v.

Just to follow up. Went back and forth on a DeWalt and an EGO.

Went with the EGO.

Assembly out the box was a snap.
Battery charged reasonably quick.
It has two speeds: low and high.
Whacks weeds very good.
Battery has a reasonable charge reserve.

I have not changed out the feed line yet but it looks to be easy.

Purchased at Lowes for about $220 plus tax.

I love it. Beats the old gas powered weed eater. Don't have to fool with gas, 2-cyle oil, spark plug(s), pull cord, fuel lines...

The EPA has destroyed the gas weed trimmers..
I had gas powered one that was very powerful and reliable.
Then ethanol gasoline and water in the gas messed with it.
Now mufflers get carboned up. The fuel carburetor jets get clogged, etc.
So I too have surrendered and gone to the battery electric models. The issues are always going to be battery life and replacement cost. But I have just resigned myself to the fact and moved on. My super nice 18V Dewalt power tool set with saws. drill. grinder and more have now been orphaned by Dewalt switching to 20v power tools. Nothing last forever not even Sears Craftsman.

If u already have dewalt cordless tools I would just stay w that. They have good blowers tree trimmers etc so one battery for lots of tools.
I bought a 40v ryobi mower and when weedeater died I got ryobi weedeater and blower, all work well

I’ve had two dewalt weed trimmer’s because they would fit in my backpack. The first only lasted a year. Id go with EGO or Stihl pers. Dewalt doesn’t have much power.
