How do you kill these demonic things. I’ve tried everything. I even put diesel on them and burned it. It still came back. I’m convinced after the apocalypse only roaches and banana trees will be left.

Only way is sweat and tears. Get two shovels (one may break) and put in tremendous sweat equity. It works, but it ain't easy.

Yea I dug up most of it on my side of the fence but I might just have to live with it because my neighbor won’t kill them on his side. Was hoping there was something that just kills it and prevents it from coming back.

Pour some salt on the stump, after you chop them. They won't grow back.

I did that too. But still came back. That’s when I started digging them up pouring diesel and tried to burn them. I guess they’re here to stay unless my neighbor kills the ones on his side.

I cut one down, a plantain tree, drilled some holes in the "stump" and poured roundup in the holes. The only real problem I had was subsidence where it rotted away.

I swear by this method and it doesn't require a hell of a lot of labor, but you have to be diligent to stay on top of it.

Cut what you have down to the ground and EVERY time new growth appears, take a shovel and shave it off just below ground level. Eventually the roots will die if no photosynthesis can take place.

When I moved into the house I'm currently in it had banana trees all across the back of the lot by the rear fence. I did the above and I got rid of them, never to return.

I’ve never tried to get rid of bananas, but it sounds worse than sago palms. Prayers sent.

Weirdly I have 3-4 that die down to the soil almost every winter. I wish they’d grow more

One more thing to throw out, I had dwarf bananas (6 ft tall) around a pool for the tropical look - looked great for 5 to 6 months of the year and crap the remaining months (winter kill, June/July before they filled out).

I decided to go in a different direction, cut the bananas to ground level and injected the freshly cut “stumps” with concentrated (45%) glyphosate (“RoundUp) using a turkey baster syringe. Never came back. Did the same with canna lilies, using trichlopyr herbicide - ditto never came back - not a single one and I did hundreds.
