We have an 11x8 foot "cove" in our master bedroom that is pretty much wasted space which we will never use. Below is my artistic rendering for visualization purposes. I'm looking to do one of those hidden closets where a mirror or bookshelf opens up and I can store all my hunting stuff and a couple safes.

What type of costs would I be looking at from a contractor just for doing the following:
1- Add a wall along the red dotted line
2- Add 2 outlets
3- Move our AC/Heat thermostat to the outside of the wall (currently resides in the "cove")

The hidden access is a one off so I can do some estimating on DIY for that portion.

The first question I'll ask is are you capable of framing, drywalling, and moving some wire.

You could literally do everything you describe yourself for under $1000 together.

It'll probably take about 3-4 weekends, including painting the new walls.

Not in the least bit

ETA - I could get a friend over who is proficient in this but we have a newborn and my weekend downtime is worth a lot at the moment

Is that an interior wall? What type of flooring?

Back wall is the garage, side walls are living and bathroom.

Flooring is hardwoods

You’ll have a harder time finding someone to take this small job. I got quoted 3 grand range to move a pantry around with a new wall and move a wall a little back. Some of these contractors will purposefully price themselves out of the job. They can kiss my arse... got some Mexicans to do it for $1600 which also included tile demolition and tile installation in a different room which was not in the 3 grand quote. Turned out great

Is your return air also in the cove? If so, you may not want to block it off.

Very nicely done

I'm guessing y'all already have a WIC in the bedroom?

Even so, if you can give up 8x11, it is pretty damn big

I'm going to assume that this wall edition doesn't block all the exterior windows in this bedroom.
