My home has a small storage area and I don't really have a spot for mower with all my other stuff. I bought an Ego mower in large part for the upright storage. While I love the ease of use and strorage... I'm thinking about returning it b/c i don't like the cut. Considering Ego is about the best in electric, I'm going back to gas. The only gas mower I can see that stores upright is the Toro SmartStow. It has a Briggs and Statton engine. I've always had luck with Honda engines in the past so I'm torn on whether or not to pull the trigger on this. I'm hoping someone here can share an experience: good or bad.

No comments on the mower but Briggs and Stratton engines last forever.

Is it the smartstow Recycler? I have a regular recycler and it works and cuts great. Mulches just as good as a timemaster at a fraction of the price.

Had it since March. Works great.

Previous mower had a Briggs and Stratton engine and lasted me 10 years.

Never heard of that but that storage is legit nice. I always felt like this an area in garage storage that needed help.

I think B&G's are generally well liked, maybe just below Honda. But I think as long as you run the gas out at the end of the season and do the general ethanol-carb preventative maintenance it will serve you well.

I have had this mower for two years now. It has been great and never not started.

I have one that's about 5 years old. I don't use the folding feature but it's been a good mower. I also have the Briggs and Stratton.

The only thing I've had to do to it is replace the side deflector because the plastic pieces that hold the chute on broke.

Yep. It actually called the Toro Recycler® SmartStow. There are a few models with the smartstow feature. I’m likely to get one of the rear wheel drive models.

I've had one for about 3 years now. No problems, always starts and runs good. My previous Toro lasted about 10 years, so I'll probably be a Toro customer for life. As others have said, the Briggs and Stratton engines are rock solid.

As to the storage, I have very little space, so the vertical storage works great for me, and I've never noticed any leaking oil or gas from it.

I had a Toro before this one and it lasted about 10 years. It still ran fine but my shed at my old place had a leak and the body rusted. I keep this one in the garage.

I buy one of these tune up kits about once per year for mine.

The best part of the B&S engine is there are no required oil changes for life. Just need to top off if it gets low.

All the newer B&S engines, on the Toro's for sure, don't require changes. Just adding their top-off oil when low.

I’ve never changed my toro mower oil, going on 10 years.

I replaced spark plug, carb, fuel lines but just topped oil off.

I got this mower about 3.5 years ago and although I do love it I think I got a lemon/bad luck. First issue I had the belt cut by a projectile. After that I have had continuous issues with it starting/running consistently. I have to clean the carb bowl out constantly and have taken the entire carb apart twice to clean it because it wouldnt start. It also constantly leaks gas through the air filter. Any advice if someone else had these issues would be appreciated.

Sounds like you got one that shouldn’t have passed QA/QC. I would call Toro and let them know.

I have had one about 3 years. Use the vertical storage. I have not had one issue. Always starts right up.

All they do is refer me to the "local dealer". I tried that.
