Sherwin Williams prices have went full retard even with the discounts and service has been hit or miss so I’m switching. PPGs Manor Hall has a lot of fans online and it’s 40% cheaper than S-W Emerald. Farrel Calhoun is even cheaper but I can’t find a lot of online reviews.

PPG is garbage. Not sure about the other brand. SW is worth every penny IMO

Almost every professional painter I talked to about my house used Farrel Calhoun as their standard offering. They’ll use SW at a premium price. Most say the mid-tier stuff is pretty equal. The top tier from SW is slightly better, but likely not worth the premium price.

What was your experience with their paint?

Ferrell Calhoun is good, lots of pros use it, but they get it way cheaper than we can.
Try Ace Hardware Clark & Kensington. It’s made by Sherwin Williams but at a much better price. You can actually touch up spots and not have to paint a whole wall as it dries to an exact match. Just discovered it.

I’ve used Devie lately and loved it. Needed to paint a room the other day and decided to use SW. I found coverage wasn’t near as good as Devoe. Embedded up w three coats before I was happy

Just curious how much the prices went up. I assume the coupon is 30%??
That super paint is awesome stuff.

I use Sherwin Williams a lot on Siegan and have no complaints. My wife uses Ferrell Calhoun and prefers them.

I get 30-40% off the base price. The base price for S-W emerald is now $75

I've painted a good bit and IMO S.W. coverage is frickin terrible.

I’m no pro painter but I never have had that problem and I was covering one very light off white with a very light grey (thanks wife of mine)

I have been a DIYER for many years and have used every major brand of paint. Day in and day out it is hard to beat Farrell Calhoun for quality and value. It is made in Memphis, TN and formulated for southern climates. When painting exterior surfaces with PPG, Devoe, Benjamin Moore, or Sherwin Williams it was always necessary to add a mildew inhibitor to the paint and it still mildewed within three years. I painted the exterior of my home 8 years ago with FC and I do not have any areas of mildew, chalking, or peeling. As far as coverage with interior coatings by FC, applying a base coat of their primer (they call it under coater) tinted the same as the finish coat will provide a quality finish.
