I dont understand why its so difficult to just add a photo from your camera phone to this forum, but apologies for my OP. Need help identifying and how to destroy this damn weed. Been looking on the internet for identification, but no luck. Thanks in advance.

Going to have to let it grow to get a definitive answer, but it looks like crabgrass.

My vote is crabgrass. Treat with Image ASAP. The best method is prevention. Dimension pre-emergent works really well, I like a late fall and late winter application.

Got a friend telling me its dove weed and to use the hi yield atrazine or celcius. Any truth to that?

According to the internet, this is doveweed. What you have doesn’t look like that to me. The thick stem in the photo should be pretty easily discernible to get a positive ID.

I think you have a type of carpet grass. Spray it with celsius. It's not dove weed. Similar to crabgrass but it's a bit too thick.

Both pictures are doveweed. Like a lot of grasses if it is mowed regularly it doesn't produce a seed head and grows more laterally. Unmowed and it gets stringy

Southern crabgrass. As has been mentioned prevention is best route. Germinates around 55 degree soil temp. Apply Pendimethalin in late Jan-early Feb.
