Did you spray anything to kill the existing other grass? Or did the bermuda just eventually win?
Spray quinclorac with MSO. Repeat in a few weeks. I have been doing the same thing. It will kill just the centipede.

by definition, a weed is just a grass type you don't want in your yard

I think I'm going to attempt this. I'd like to get rid of my St. Aug. I'm tired of having to spot treat every winter and come back to more weeds than the ones I got rid of. My St. Aug cannot get enough water in our yard. With a second kid here now, I am having a hard time with consistent lawn maintenance. I would be willing to scalp my yard every weekend and throw down seed when temps are appropriate.
I'm assuming just high nitrogen fert will do the job?

Maybe I’m just stuck in the past when my Dad, and then me, had mature, beautiful St. Augustine lawns. The house I bought 10 years ago had a real hodgepodge of a grass/weed mix, then I got a bad batch of the Scott’s weed and feed, but nursed the backyard (St. Aug) back to life, cutting high and pouring the water to it. Now, the last spots that had Bermuda seem to be trying to take over, I’m going to sod over the most robust spots this weekend and see if I can get this weed at bay.

My problem with St. Aug is that it gets patchy in my yard when droughts hit hard. It is also incredibly thin looking in my lawn to where I feel like I can see way too much soil vs. grass.

That is exactly right. All grass types are weeds.
