PSA:
Don't weed and feed your yard if you think you have any fungus issues going on. Pretty sure this is what hammered my backyard last year.
Don't put it in any weak area in general. Shaded areas etc. I killed off an entire shaded area by using same dosage there as rest of yard.

the soil is really compact because of 2 big thirsty oak trees which is why im gonna aerate this spring
Is just aerating the answer? I feel like I need more dirt too.

Top pic is a type of oxalis, use the atrazine. Bottom two look to be wild violets, but maybe tiny sprouts of cashmere bouquet, if there are adults plants in a bed nearby or something. Probably violets, use the 3 way. But it'll take repeat apps.

Boot , how often should I spot spray MSMA on the weeds in my yard ?(yes I have Bermuda Grass)
Posted on 3/18/19 at 2:40 pm to tigerfan5959
As often as needed... though, legally the spot treatments aren't supposed to equal any more than 25% of the total acreage per calendar year

Lawn is doing "ok", could use a shot of weed control here and there. But the damn moles
Cat and dog combined have taken a few but still plenty doing their thing

So I'm a rookie first time homeowner so forgive any dumb questions I may ask...and not knowing what yall are talking about.
My lawn turned brown over the winter, and is as of right now still brown with patched of clover. What exactly is the best way to proceed right now? I live in Shreveport, and honestly am not sure what kind of grass I have.
TIA

If it's still mostly brown, probably need to hit it with a fungicide. Plenty good granular options out there. I've had good results with Thiophanate Methyl. Ferti-Lome's Weedfreezone (to kill the clover) is safe for all turf grasses, but dosages are different for different grasses

So it's the clover and what not keeping my lawn brown?
Posted on 3/19/19 at 8:17 am to bootlegger
you sure he doesn't just mean it went dormant? Not sure just poking in
Posted on 3/19/19 at 9:32 am to AU_251
Yeah, not sure what the weather is like in Shreveport, but my grass is just starting to come out of dormancy in AL.

Here's a pic so yall can get a better idea. I looked up pictures of lawn fungus, and I don't think that's it. If it is just dormant because of winter, is there anything I should do to help it now that the weather is warmer? It's been about 40 in the morning, but warming up to 70 in the afternoon? Should I take care of the clover? Start watering?
Thanks again for all your help...I'm beyond rookie and really wanna be able to take pride in my lawn.

A historic battle is underway (Centipede)
Known Issues: Thatch, Weeds everywhere, uneven ground.
Phase 1: Complete:
Sprayed Weed Free Zone about 3-4 weeks ago and put down some Scott’s crabgrass preemergent.
Results: Some Broadleafs died, however many weeds remain and the grass is dead throughout and spongy (thatch)
Phase 2: Dethatching possibly this weekend.
Phase 3: Another dose of weedkiller once I identify the main culprits. Going to either hand dig the crabgrass / daligrass or round up that crap.
Phase 4: Possibly aerate
Phase 5: Possibly overseed
Phase 6: milogranite
Phase 7: Possibly level somewhat however I may wait till next year.
Alternative: Concrete it all.

Is it spongy? I am no bootlegger but mine looks very similar it feels spongy when you walk on it and I am 99% sure it’s thatch, I hope.

I have centipede and this time last year grass was near perfect already, this year mine currently looks like yours. I have been hesitant to put any weed and feed since it’s still brown. Gras if finally turning so not sure if it was just dormiant. I still have some brown spots but will avoid those if possible next week when I lay some weed and feed down unless I shouldn’t lol

my centipede also still brown. a few green leaves if you look close, but from a few feet away it just looks brown. i'd give it more time.
