Yep. Only thing that will survive is possibly my greens like cabbage/broccoli/cauliflower and onions/garlic.

I like a good cold front but that’s too damn cold for me

I’ll have to cover up the grapefruit tree for sure

We’ll see. I’m gonna cover the plants and just hope the soil is warm enough.

I’ve never seen a plant die as fast as my tomatoes

One day they were upright and full with a deep green color. Now it looks like they have been dead since the last freeze in spring!

Oh well, time to R2 with the next plants!

We got down to 13 a couple days ago. Whatever I had that was struggling from our first freeze is now very dead. I've seeded the winter cover crop. I also dug up my favorite peppers and moved them inside for the winter.

Oh yeah. All tomatoes and peppers, RIP. Got down to 24 for a couple of hours. I covered the peppers; it did no good.

I pulled all of my tomato and pepper plants. I have 2 paper bags full of green tomatoes with bananas in them to hopefully ripen them.

Cabbage, lettuce, and carrots are doing ok it seems.

Everything died but my onions and shallots. They are trucking along just fine. I'm about to plant my winter garden this weekend.

What would you do with 8 dozen lemons that were left on the tree in 24-25 degree weather?

Just trying to decide if I should even bother attempting to hand some of these out or not.

They are probably not very good now. Try picking a couple and juicing them. If they have the acid, you could slice them for marinades or for cooking.

Yeah I’ll just chunk them tonight...trash night

I’ve got the tomorrow’s replaced with cauliflower and peppers changed out with romaine.

So far I’m 35/40 on the garlic. That stuff grows quick.

Quick question. Should we convert this thread into the 2020 garden thread? Or should we start a new one. I vote start a new one. But I'll let someone else author it.

I've started gathering supplies for the spring garden already. I'll probably start some seeds indoors in a couple weeks. Only thing left growing in my garden is carrots and cabbage.

I was wondering the other day when you would start the new one

I guess make a new thread with link back to this one if anyone needs it?

I ended up 36/40 on my creole garlic so I'm happy with that. I have some yellow granex onion and danvers coming up but they were pretty hit and miss. Maybe 30% germ rate on both. I'm fairly certain I over watered though.

The cold nuked the cauliflower after I transplanted but didn't touch the broccoli.

The romaine is out of control!

I have 3 tabasco plants going in the shed under a light as well.

I cut my cauliflower before the freeze this week and it was as big as my head. The first light freeze it was protected under its own leaves.

I threw out a bunch of spinach seeds from last year so we will see how it comes up.

We picked all the broccoli 2-3 weeks ago and I’m trying to decide what to do next.

I started mine way too late. I'm learning that however long I think it will take to get them ready for transplant, just go ahead a double it.

Yeah, trying to grow broccoli/cauliflower from seeds in August and September is for someone else. Mine never makes it.

I direct sowed cabbage last year and it was great.

I also did a bushing sugar snap pea this year - but it’s not really a bushing type so I haven’t hotten much off it

Like I said, I'll let someone else start the 2020 thread. But if nobody else starts it in the next couple weeks, I'll start it.

Work has been really busy and doesn't appear to be letting up any time soon. But I will definitely be participating. I upgraded my seed starting equipment. Got a brand new 20,000 lumen light fixture for my indoor starts. That oughta help get them going.

I'll be ordering seeds pretty soon. Just gotta get my list together.

I hear you, once tax season kicks into gear I’ll be MIA most of the time.

I’ll start pulling links together for a new post. If someone else makes a new post before me then that’s fine.

It's already started based on the fennel in my raised beds. They're three or four of them about a foot high and looking real green amidst all the dried brown.
