Why isn't there a third option when posting a comment on TD?

When you post a comment, the options you get are to jump to your post, or to return to board.
Why isn't there a third option to return to the post within the thread that you commented on?
Usually that would be my preferred option because I want to continue reading other posts in the thread from where I left off. I almost never have a need or desire to jump to my post. The only reason I do is so I can stay in the thread and click back several pages to where I was. Am I the only one who wonders this, or has this been discussed before?

Guess most people acually read the entire thread before posting a comment.

Almost nobody reads the entire thread first, that's why we always get 15 different people making the same super witty response.

People hardly ever read the entire thread first. That’s why the same comments, smart and funny as they may be, keep getting repeated.

I would assume most posters read the entire thread before commenting

After you post your comment, click "return to post". Then, in your new post, click on the user name of person you were responding to. That'll bring you back to the post you were responding to and your "place" in the thread. You're welcome.

Who tf reads an entire thread before responding? I mean, when's the last time you read a thread that didn't have 10-20 assholes reply with the same stupid arse joke?

Probably because your not doing it right. I only get to use the third option after wine & dinner with lots of foreplay.

No one said anyone was that intelligent on here.
And I typically don't respond to the op in a thread that's a few pages already, knowing that someone has likely already said my super witty response. However, I will post to someone else's comment before reading the entire thread. There are some of us on here smart enough that we've actually figured out how to look ahead and see if someone has already replied to a comment with what we were wanting to post. For those of you who aren't (BHM), not naming any names, just go ahead and read the whole thread before posting.

Best answer and more efficient than my method, thank you. However, there should still be a third button. How do we make recommendations to chicken?
