Why can't MeridianDog's contest stay on the O-T

Dude is trying to win a trip to Italy but needs to be in top 3 places - without the OT, he will finish 4th. He's a solid contributor to the food board and is also sick with some heart issues.
Just curious - I recall seeing several things like this being allowed on the O-T before and it wasn't a problem. The O-T has won many a contests over the years

It would be great if his threads on the OT were not deleted or anchored. He's a solid guy and a great contributor. Definitely one of the top posters on the Food Board. Helping one of our own seems like a tremendous morale booster for the regular posters on TD.

I hope he wins, however the OT doesn't need to turn into a spam fundraising site. Everybody always has something to vote for, someone who needs help, whatever.

Pear woman has taken the lead. She has a Facebook page dedicated to her contest and has a "Vote and Win" program going on where gift cards, bottles of wine and other things given away to a lucky voter regularly. TD could simply vote and take her over without buying votes.

This is S’s shtick. He tells people to apologize, and talks about Paul Allen. The two together is his Holy Grail. It’s hit or miss. Sometimes I laugh, sometimes it’s expected and boring, sometimes it’s annoying

Yeah I just had the same thought and posted it in the thread on the food and drink board... The rules don't explicitly state giving away gifts for votes is not allowed, but there is a section that gives the contest holder sole discretion to disqualify entries based on fraud, which I would think this would fall under.
