TD needs a Personal Messaging system

Im tired of having to exchange emails in order to send fellow posters pictures. Also sometimes I need to get in contact with a poster but all I have is his email and he more than likely wont respond right away. Make it happen Chicken!

PMs would have their pros and their cons
Pro:
It would decrease thread hijacks from excessive IMing, in a totally unrelated thread
It would be an effective way to contact a poster regarding tickets, phone #s, meeting for football games/concerts, etc.
Photos, inside jokes, etc could go there
Cons:
It would allow posters to gang up on other posters, and orchestrate board trolling
It would easily allow posters to harass other posters, and for creepwads to hardleg a little too far on female posters.
It would allow a way for people to blackmail posters (Someone finds out your screen name, signs up, and threatens to spill your TD secrets to your SO)
Essentially it would erase the anonymity of an anonymous message board

I think a PM system would kill the OT as everyone would converse over it instead of the threads

Nah, there might would be FEWER posts in the IM threads, but there would still be PLENTY of all around IM discussion.
Also so Spalding, I dont see how it would have ANY effect on anonymity at all. And if you wanted to blackmail someone about IRL stuff, then there are IRL ways of anonymously getting messages to people. Its like the criminals and guns argument. If someone wants to shoot someone, they are going to be able to get a gun, legally or illegally. If someone wants to get in touch with you and hey know who you are IRL, they can.
As far as unwanted hardlegging, its easy to ignore someone and blocking features are usually included in most PM PHP scripts or wouldnt be that difficult to add if you wrote your own.
