Ok, here is a novel idea. On the music board, actually give the "like" button some significance.
If you are posting your band's new song, or your new dubstep/folk-rap/heavy polka album, you are given a certain time frame to get a certain amount of "likes" before it gets anchored.
This would cause people to actually use a function of the site that is (IMO) meaningless now, and also give people to become somewhat invested in a thread, perhaps even to the point of saying "hey, users not on the music board or TD right now! Come check out this new JC/codythetiger album. It's legit!"
This would increase traffic, and also make the board a destination for budding musicians.

That sounds awful and unproductive
I want the music board to be about legit music, not a Myspace Music ripoff that has every "artist" trying to get their name out there

This is going to happen anyway with the music board. This would create a "self-destruct" mechanism for unworthy bands.

I'm with you bee. Either Chicken has the analytics to back up the reasoning behind the diluting of boards into a craptastic amount of boards or he's just so boss, he wants to create a new board just to beef up his calsthenics playlist.

there are only eleven threads about music on the first 15 pages of the OT. Would be 9 had Davy Jones not died. 2 of the others are about the same thing, and 4 others failed to reach a second page.
