Happening to me constantly. App Store for Gilt, clash of kings, open table etc. then a redirect to another web page about weather and how I was their lucky visitor.

Haven't used my iPad recently, but definitely still inflicting the App Store onto my iPhone
ETA-if it helps any, when I close the App Store that's popped up, I end up back on the page of TD I came from, not the one I clicked. (Although its happening most often while just reading a thread)
