after a few days, the voting will die down and be used just about the same as the thumbs up.

it's so broken right now. you have unlimited votes by just exiting and entering the thread again 
eta: you have to switch off voting up and down, but it's still unlimited

I think most people will ignore it like they ignored the like button before. The only place I see it being used are where there are personal feuds involved. It will probably be used often on the poliboard.
