General Question - Why no direct messaging functionality?

Chicken, what's the rationale behind not having direct messaging? I know admins can send messages directly but why not a broader functionality between all members?

It would result in reductions in the number of total posts on all boards. That impacts ad revenue.

Ad revenue should be based, in part, on page views. DMs do nothing to reduce page views.

Sure they do.
Posts=content for the site.
If you increase backchannelling ability on site, then you are reducing public posts. For all to see and comment on.
Tell them to shoot you an email to a throwaway account if you want to have a private convo.
