There have been instances of snackers making the night shift unwelcome in the snack thread. The NSRC alleviated the tension with little overlap. The snackers had their little cool kids table, and the NSRC took in all those who were otherwise looking for somewhere to be.. Gave them a reason to be on TD. It was a bit of a populist movement. It evolved from a few different things, and though I influenced it, I did not begin it. I merely held the banner aloft, along with others.

That's so 2011. When is the last time you've seen a slurry of baby pics? I put the baby away. It ran its course.
ETA: why make it a point that you don't have a problem with the Baby? That's not even an issue, nor do I care much anymore. Personally, I think the attack on the NSRC is just an attack on me By George the geek for some petty vendetta he has against me.

Perhaps it just seemed that way.
But why discourage something that generates web traffic during times that would otherwise be quite slow, especially when those involved in such action are a prime market for advertisers (well paid, restless, often captive audiences)?

Pretty simple.
There are THREE designated, allowed IM threads so that tigerdroppings doesn't become all IM all the time.
The one late at night is the LNST where night shift workers, such as lsunurse, can post. It was made for that very reason.
There is no need for 2 IM threads during the slowest time of tigerdroppings. If you want to IM, go to the LNST.

The LNST is too cliquish for many of the demographic that post and read the NSRC. It's a joke they don't get. The NSRC made them feel like they had somewhere to go, somewhere to be, where people that shared a common bond could while away the waning hours before the dawn.
But don't ask me, ask the night shift. It seemed to get overwhelming support in this thread

Then make the NSRC the new late night IM thread (even though it is more than just an IM thread). I'm willing to bet you'll see more posters in that.

And the majority of responses to this thread made it sound like the NSRC was more desired than the LNST. Give the people what they want maybe.
Or just let it be the way it has been. What exactly was the issue? They added an SEC IM, why not let something that wasn't bothering anyone slide?

If everybody got to run this board how they wanted this place would be awful. If everyone started a new, daily thread because they didn't like something this place would, once again, be awful.

Look, I get it. It's a turf war. People enjoy a little conflict. It makes them feel like they are a part of something. It breeds loyalty, and gives them something to come back for. A little excitement isn't a bad thing.

you have no idea the sacrifices people made to get the LNST made legal...shite, 3-4 good posters were loss during the campaign

I personally enjoy the NSRC because it can turn into an EMMA thread fairly easily and I'm not sure that would go over all that well in the LNST. I just don't see why it's an issue. 
It's just one thread at a time when nobody is up anyway.

And you don't think the NSRC is willing to make sacrifices? A finer group of fellows (and ladies) I've seldom met. Judging by the responses in this thread, I reckon some damn fine posters are willing to pick up the banner of the NSRC.
