Chicken,

The poli-board is the most relevant forum for Religious discussions. Right now there are 285 political posts and 230 religious-political posts.

This doesn't seem to be a problem until some pansy RA's about a Religious thread being posted on the Poli-board (even though they all have a political angle to them)

And the OT is not the appropriate place for serious religious discussions. "WOWYHI" & "Look how green my turd is.." don't lend themselves to those people looking for a serious religious debate/discussion.

To avoid this problem in the future would you please consider changing the Poli-board to "Politics & Religion"? There is a "want" to discuss religous topics on this forum.

Thank you for your consideration.

For the record, I haven't yet RA'd you, although "230 religious-political posts" seems to be a growing problem.

I can see posting about religious events or religion-related subjects that influence politics, but if you're going to do that, at least write about that freaking connection.

My beef with you is that you shouldn't just say "wow, isn't this religious thing that happened one time cool?," and then later say after the fact that somebody could have made a wider social or political point about it. If your thread isn't about that wider point to start with, then don't make it. If you're just talking about random things that happened or about your own personal faith, that's OT material.

No one RA'd the religious threads. NO ONE.

I just decided enough was enough.

Blame me if you like.

I respect that, but where is line drawn? Are atheism threads ok? They say it's not a religion.

FWIW, i am a much less frequent poli-board user because of the religious threads.

they annoy the hell out of me - and they have nothing to do with politics (other than the weekly email thread about Obama being a muslim).

I think the real problem is that their prevalence has bled into other non-religious political threads. In effect, a regular thread becomes religious in nature due to the insecurity of theist and athiest zealot posters.

I don't think it's a religion, but it's religion-related.

I'm not sure yet. All I asked for was for everyone it give it a rest for awhile on the poli board with religious threads that had no bearing on politics.

Strictly religous threads are more thatn welcome on the O-T.

it is not a religion, although it is accepted on article of faith. A religion, by nature, is organized and has tenants. Atheism does not.

Me too. I never click on threads (usually mytigger's threads) about Mary or some miracle in Africa or anything. I also despise the Islam an Israel threads. But I enjoy the atheism threads because I learn things from them. I don't know if atheism threads constitute religious threads... that's where I need Tigah in LA to advise.
