Anyone use a Whoop strap? If so, is the information provided useful?

For those not familiar, it is a fitness band that you constantly wear that monitors heart rate, breathing, etc., even during sleep to assist with monitoring overall health. The bank has a battery life of five days and an attachable charger so you don’t have to remove to charge.

Always been interested in the Whoop but never met anyone who uses it. I use an Apple Watch and just take it off for 20 min in the evening to charge it and charge it in the car on the way to work.

I haven't used one but I know some people that do and love it. I know they also use Whoop bands for some studies, so the data must be fairly reliable.

Is it useful? Well, it's data. What you do with it is up to you. The app will make suggestions and such I believe.

Crazy. I literally came here to start this exact thread. I asked about the differences in Fitbits a while back, and someone just said “whoop” or something without any explanation on what it is/was. I’ve been researching it, and it looks like the data is much more in depth and accurate. And I like to wear a regular watch on one wrist, and even the smaller Fitbits still look a bit like watches. I’d much rather wear the no-face band of the Whoop.

That said, there’s a monthly subscription. The minimum requirement is 6 months at $30/month. You can get better deals on 12 or 18 month commitments, but you have to pay up front. I haven’t decided if it’s worth it or not.

WHOOP—There it is

Guy in my office has one and it provides in incredible amount of info. I would say really it is too much for the average joe who worksout and runs. If you are serious marathon runner or triathlon person it would help you with training. Apparently the thing gets pissed off at when you even have a single drink at night. It will say that you are barely recovered from the previous day because you had a drink

And you’re right, it’s a ton of data. Probably too much for most people. I agree that their target demo is for hardcore marathoners, cyclists, triathletes, and Silicon Valley lifehackers.

The subscription for me is the turnoff. I’d get the Oura ring even though the Whoop looks cooler.

I had one for a while, but just now started wearing it 24/7 on my ankle. I was diving and snorkeling with it in the Keys last month.

When I had it on my wrist, I would take it off during workouts because I normally wear wrist wraps, so I would lose that data.

Whoop says it isn't designed for the ankle, but the HR monitoring is on-point, so I switched to it late June. I want consistent data, and this was the only way to achieve it.

I need to reduce my caffeine intake during the day, because my recovery is usually Red/Yellow, and, occasionally, Green.

The data is interesting and I'd love to use it, but the subscription is just a deal breaker. Not worth it. You can get most of the same data from a Garmin with wrist based HR monitoring and a million other features Whoop doesn't have.

I used it. I liked it but I didn't think the calorie count was accurate.

I did like the sleep information. and Recovery. Its pretty cool.

If you drink alcohol within 2 hours of bed, it kills your recovery and it showed.

Does anything provide accurate(ish) blood pressure monitoring? Cause that could be really helpful. I read something a while back about a feature the new Apple watches are supposed to have whenever they come out. Don’t remember exactly what it was, though.

shameless bump. Really curious about any experiences with a fitness band that monitors blood pressure. I am skeptical on their accuracy, but would love to be proven wrong.

I just got a Whoop. Gonna wear it for a solid 2 weeks and compare the data to my Garmin. If not a huge difference, I’ll just return it before the 30 day window and get my money back.
