Update: They really weren't that bad today. I think the rain may have kept some away but there was definitely more traffic than usual.
Betcha that many resolutioners are officially starting Monday

Or not at all.

What are some of your favorite things about the yearly new year’s resolution gym members? I’ll start:
As others have said, I applaud anyone who is trying to better themselves and if they last one month, that's better than someone who doesn't try.
Saw a guy who is extremely overweight in my gym yesterday morning with a trainer. In my head i wished him well on his journey. He probably has a good 125 to lose.
I went yesterday (it was raining in Dallas) and thankfully there were only about 2-3 more people than usual at 6am

As I saw somewhere else, these members are likely helping to keep your own membership rates lower.
The only area that affects me regarding larger crowds are the weight room. Therefore, I'll usually lift weights at lunch, early mornings, or during weekends when the crowds are lighter. I do this year-round so rarely even think about the New Year's effect, other than these type of threads that pop up each year.

I'm thinking about joining again but its 100% a coincidence that it's in January. Its just me forcing myself to workout consistantly.
