Yea knew about the adaptation process but it doesn't feel the same as when I went through it before, plus the sweeting makes me think some of it is my metabolism in over drive

When going straight zero carb there can be an additional "keto flu" that can suck. I wonder if that's the case here even though you are eating a salad too.

I found, that my meat-snobbishness has increased. I cannot stand meat cooked beyond medium rare, even a medium cooked steak taste horrible.

Not feeling like shite like normally if it's keto flu. I went ahead and had a few carbs today at lunch, less than 50.

Gonna go straight steak and eggs withiut the salad and up the fat to close to 75% this week and see if that helps.

So tonight I did my weekly burpee test to make sure in am on track for vc1. This week was a test for time 30 burpeess with the goal to do then in under 90 seconds. I did it in 1:26, so on Pace. I'll do a test for 40 next week and so on and so forth. When I get to prolly 80, I will have to climb by 5's.

Also I have to get far adapted. Fell asleep at 630 on the couch. Thinking long and hard about just sucking it up and do a true 4-5 day fat fast. Only way I know of to speed up the process.

Think I did pretty good today unless I found some hidden carbs somewhere.

Salad, eggs, deer sausage, crawfish, oysters, pork.

Got the heart rate up up with 2 hours of tennis and had 40 minutes walk. Going to do 200 push-ups before bed.

Tomorrow will be the start of ground beef 88/12 and eggs. Pull day and 2 mile run tomorrow.

I read all of Vince’s stuff about 10 years ago. I respect his contributions but training and nutrition have come a long way since his time.

I do like incorporating low rest times to shake things up every once in a while. He was a big advocate.

ETA. No carb seems unnecessary to me. I can cut body fat at 450-500 g carbs per day.

No carb is not needed, just something I said I would do with my wife for Lent and if I do something I tend to to go all the way.

Not really. I mean some of his ideas like you have to go zero carb or some of his stuff with water was a little out there, but they worked then and they work now. Plus Vince was huge on digestion and digestive enzymes. Also alot of the supplements he recommended was because they didn't have any better.

Nothing wrong with his training at all other than some of his exercises can be problematic for those with shoulder or knee issues. But the workouts are great.

Also you have to remember, Vince was coming strictly from a bodybuilding standpoint in training and nutrition. He cared only about building muscle in the right places.

He advocated for progressive overload through density training because of this and he was the first one to bring up density training. Vince didn't care at all about strength at all and it shows in his exercise selection. Also he was huge on not making the waist big with squats and deadlifts.

Vince was quirky and an a-hole, but his methods worked and still do.

So fasted until after lifting tonight, I guess 26-27 hours or so. Just finished eating. Ate

Huge salad with avocado, grass fed cheese, and 3 tbsp of evoo
10oz salmon
3 lamb meatballs
3 tbsp of Hummus

Didn't eat steak and eggs but stuck to the principals of max definition diet except for the hummus but oh well, it was the only meal I had today.

Gonna stick in to one meal a day for a while prolly. Just feel better.

Lifting was great especially for being fasted

Deficit deads-
315x6
275x12

Front squat-
205-5/5/8

Ez bar curls-80-12/12
Cable crunches
Plus all be the homework

Noticed that I still cramp in my abs when lifting fasted. Gonna have to keep an eye on this as an cramps are three worst.

Did you ever post the bulk diet? I am considering cutting a bunch of carbs and doing a TKD style diet. This water weight from creatine and carbs are putting a lot of pressure on my lower back.

No i will this week. been busy and about to head to texas childrens for my kids nut allergies so will be out of pocket next two days.

but if you look in the folder he has them in the blueprint to bodybuilder and the rheo blair method also is good one. also here is his bulk course.

also his steak and egg diet if done right is also a bulking diet. every 4th-5th day carb up.

Yeah, that is more in line with a CKD style diet. I think it's harder to prepare that type of diet but I will check it out.

Ironic because your body thinks carbs are unnecessary to begin with.

Yea but they fricking taste good

So been doing one meal a day for the last few days. Has helped a ton with energy but has given me the runs a little from all the fat. Today had to go-to Texas children's for my kids food allergies and they wanted to go eat at this BBQ place the saw on TV. So ate with them. Ate over a pound of brisket. Then tonight had 12oz steak with some grass fed butter.

Training tonight was

Weighted dips-bw+50 for two sets of 8. This was a rep PR for me.

Kb clean and press-56lbs bells. 2 sets of 5.

Must have slapped my left forearm pretty good with the bell on the last set cause even though I barely noticed it, when I went to do weighted chins I couldn't even really grip the bar.

Finished up with 2 sets of overhead cable tricep extensions.

I will test the forearm in the morning and try to do some burpees and have bag work tomorrow night.

Yep, but you cannot beat the convenience. How's taking in 2500 or so calories in one meal going? I usually graze once I get home to help with that.

Honestly I have been counting this week. Just make sure I have been getting 12oz steak at a min. Will start adding more protein powder after I am in full ketosis.

The one I have uses sucralose and acesulfame potassium as the sweeteners. Sounds like it varies per person whether or not this will kick them out of ketosis.

I'm definitely not in ketosis yet, had too many calories Tuesday. I might run a fat fast Fri-Sun.

So yesterday I did one meal around 6, 8 oz of skirt steak and about 12 oz lamb. Was stuffed after.

This morning I had my first weigh in, I have been good and haven't checked at all for two weeks. Weight was 200.2 so down 9 lbs in two weeks. About what I originally expected but with keto most was from my belly so I thought it might have been more.

So I haven't been doing the morning walks or conditioning the book calls for in of days. Do going to later in 2 conditioning sessions the week and set a goal of 90 min of fasted walking for the next two weeks and going to tighten everything up just a little and get on more of a schedule.

This weekend will be hard as I have the rodeo on Friday, a fund raiser Saturday night. Shall see how that goes.

Also my goals for the next 4 weeks are to get down to 190. This should out me on Pace the get down to 182-185 range after the full 12 weeks of the program.

For conditioning I want to be able to do 60 burpees on the 3 second per pace. Also want to complete the 13 down challenge in under 10 min.

For villain challenge#2 which is squat 50 reps with bodyweight, I want to be at 30 reps with 205.

For vc#3, the 100 pushups in 2 min. I want to be at 72. This number would have maxed out the army pt test when I was in.

For vc#5 which is 18 dead hang chins with 25lbs. I want to be at 12 with the weight and 18 with bw which should out me in once to complete the challenge.

Would also like to take the 115's on a ride on the incline for 6-8 reps.

For press, would like to be at 165 for top working weight.

Deads at 385 working weight.

Pretty much confirms what I already knew about beef. It is the most anabolic food outside of fertile eggs. Gironda knew this too and he considered steak and eggs the perfect meal, the "bodybuilders meal". It's why wendler makes you eat over a pound of beef and a dozen eggs when doing his building the monolith program. Those are the only two diet rules he has.

Honestly I am still gaining strength which is rare in a cut and extremely rare in a cut combined with only trace carbs.

Now I did have a little hiccup yesterday. I busted my arse from about 730 in the morning until around 530 without eating a single thing. Honestly I just forgot and because I am used to fasting I didn't have any hunger pains. Well I came in and ate a small amount of steak and 6 eggs. When I went to lift I realized it was too late, I was just plain worn out and had zero energy and no matter how much steak or eggs I ate was going to change that.

Gonna set some damn rep records tonight though.
