Anyone getting down with these implements?
These are unconventional in that they don’t fit the 80s/90s dumbbell/barbell mentality pervasive in most gyms.

Mace training

Bulgarian Bag / sandbags

Kettlebell

Battle ropes

Over the past years these have become more commonplace and are by no means a secret, but I believe these are “cutting edge.” Of course I still love and use barbells and dumbbells, but as I have moved out of the gym into my garage training, I find these along with other odd objects (kegs, sleds, clubs, heavy tire, sledgehammer, suspension trainer) to be very beneficial. The mixture between conventional and unconventional makes my daily workouts a blast.

I don't only because I don't have that stuff. A mace, battle rope, and prowler would be super fun.

Turkish get-ups are awful I always feel like I'm going to drop the Kettlebell on my face. That's a mistake you can only make one time.

I'll do some kettle bell circuits for my conditioning from time to time. I also have been doing 10-12 kettle bell swings in between my bench sets to keep myself warm.

I'll also do some of the battle rope stuff when I get the time in the gym.

Nice, a press/hinge superset. I dig it.

It's not bad. I train early mornings. With bench not being a huge intense day like a deadlift day or squats, I needed something to keep me up and focused and the heart rate up a little.

I think a barbell row would be a better antagonist to a press. It's whatever however.

Yea I suppose so. This is more just to get/keep my body moving instead of sitting on the bench looking at Instagram. Get's me up and moving.

Right push with a pull, although I am starting to think now that you won’t lose out as long as you are sticking to one of the basic movement patterns (squat, lunges, hinge, push, pull, rotate , walk)

And also, the kettlebell swing is half hinge (during exertion) and half pull (during the recovery.)

I use sandbags, and I made a slosh pipe although I haven't done much with it yet.

I have sandbags, keg, prowler, battle ropes and I do swings with a handle. I do the sandbags and the kb swings.

About to get some brute balls though for sure. Odd object/strongman training is a great way to train.

I cannot do swings without straining my hamstrings, usually the left one. Maybe I'm doing them wrong.

After a certain goal in powerlifting, I'm going to try for strongman.

There’s lots of good information on YouTube about kettlebell form, I think anything with Pavel or a strong first certification is a great starting point. If you dig a little deeper, there are many internet coaches that can help you when you sign up for one of their programs that are reasonably priced. I like guys like Travis Stoetzel, Pat Flynn and Zach Even Esh.

I? don’t know if it counts as unconventional but I’ve been slowly adding prowler sled to my cardio routine and it’s kicking my arse. If your gym has one take advantage.
