Awesome review Roots.

I'm glad you were able to review the turbos. I had a feeling that the React had potential to ruin that shoe and you're right, there is no energy return to the React foam. I'm leaning that the ZFFK isn't a very good shoe for precisely that reason even though I was a homer at first.

For me, Nike really doesn't have anything to compete with the Adidas adizero series. Nike has the Pegasus and the 4% and that seems about it (even though I'm a fan of the Streak). I'm still reluctant with New Balance because they are super expensive for how old the shoe technology is plus I still stand by revlite being hot trash. This is why I won't pull the trigger on the Rebels (mid-sole is part revlite) until they're at least half off.

I hear you on the ZFFK. I’m definitely not as much a fan as I once was. After comparing the feel of track workouts between it and the Boston 7 in consecutive weeks, the Boston is far superior. The upper/fit/response/weight, etc. I’m not really fond of the flyknit anymore as there is zero padding on the tongue and my metatarsal is sore after running in either the ZFFK or 4%. Also the Boston doesn’t give the “running in ice skates” feel of the ZFFK/4% either.

Also I’m trying to limit my carbon plate time (carbon footprint? Haha) also. After talking with the local running doc he mentioned that Jay Dicharry (PT, Exercise Physiologist) up in Eugene has seen a pretty big increase in injuries from runners wearing shoes with the plate.

Of course I’ll still race in the 4% for now and sprinkle the ZFFK, I’m not going to fill my closet with them like I once thought.

And Burt I dare you to find a bad review of the Beacon Brah! I’ve seen many call it the shoe of 2018 and you can have it for around $65 on Jackrabbit I’m pretty sure.

I'm sure they're great. Fresh foam is a good material but from what the reviews are saying, they'll be too soft for me. I don't really do the maximalist shoe thing and 65 dollars is expensive for a shoe you don't need/want.

We don't need another Razor 2 incident do we? Man, what a turd that shoe is/was.

My next pounder will be some peggies (prob 35) or another pair of launches when these Revels are done.

I thought Nike was committing to being a leader running shoes again with the 4%, streak, turbo. Check out this new running shoe...

Joyride

And they are marketing it as a serious running shoe al la the React series (which are athleasure)

There's even little holes in the bottom of the shoe so moisture can get in. What a feature!

Nike thinks we're all chumps and they're right.

Funny bc Puma released something similar a couple of years ago. Didn’t last long and apparently Puma and Nike are litigating over the tech right now. Seems more fit for a lifestyle shoe tbh.

Nike says they've been developing the tech for over ten years. This is the biggest gimmick from Nike since those shitty shockz or whatever nonsense shoes.

LOL

I’m sure they’re great, just not as a dedicated running shoe. I’d question the durability and also the ability of the beads to provide similar energy return to foam or foam + plate.

Just pulled from the book of 3NO and made a pilgrimage to Ross. 2 Skora running shirts for 7.99 each and another pair of Zoom Streak 7s for under 50.

Ross might be worth the discomfort of all the screaming turds running all over damnation once and a while.

The Streaks are my fav colorway too!

I have 2 pair of Skora shorts that I love. Great brand. One pair is a 3” inseam. But I only wear those when I’m thinking about you and Roots.

My entire running wardrobe comes from Burlington Ross and Marshall’s at this point. Academy and Running warehouse will have some decent sales from time to time but I find that if you’re just patient and swing by there every now and then you’ll save a ton of money.

Settled on Skora, Asics, and NB for Shorts... and I really tend to like UA and Reebok tops. Something Reebok does with their shirts does a really good job on hot runs where the sweat legitimately cools me down.

Speaking of my normal rants, passed 425 miles on my NB1080s this last week. They’re still going really strong and my favorite overall shoe with hardly a hint of wear.

1080 is FF but it’s a fairly responsive push. Definitely not going to get the most out of them on a speed session, but they’re decent for a hard run.

Will definitely start frequenting Ross based on y'alls advice. I get anxiety about going there for the exact reasons you mentioned Burt.

I am keeping the NB FC Propel. As advertised the FC is a more responsive (and durable) version of the FF. Will post a detailed review once I get around 30-40 miles on them but if anybody is interested in buying some before I post it, just know that the midsole is WIDE, the heel has some sort of weird flare that threw me off at first. It doesn't bother me when running, but this is something that I immediately took pause to.

Ross, Marshall’s, TJ Maxx, Burlington, and Burke’s all carry a lot of good brands.

Ross and Marshall’s are the median I would say, Ross being the trashier of the two.

3 is right about Ross being the trashier of the two. One other thing about Ross that is super frustrating, the sizes sections are suggestions.

You really gotta rub elbows and fricking get native in there man. It’ll be a war zone lol especially with back to school going on. Get in the mind set and Godspeed.

There’s a reason Ross has multiple Loss prevention officers.

For clothes, they’re all great. I would never head to any of them with a particular shoe in mind. Ross and Burlington tend to have bigger shoe sections.

Decided to pull the trigger on these Adizero unisex Primes on Amazon (sold by Amazon). If legit, this will be the best shoe deal I've ever gotten. Went half size larger.

The Adizero primes are legit. If you’ve been on the fence about boost, these will only set you back 35. The sole is very similar to the Boston but softer on the forefoot IMO. Link above.

Go a half size bigger.

I'm going to retire the Brooks Revel early at 250-300 miles. They are like the Brooks Launch's slower, fatter, uglier cousin. They were meant to be my recovery/general miles shoe but they just beat the ever loving shite out of my legs. The soles are harder but somehow less responsive than the launch and the upper is thicker and heavier too. Tons of thick heavy rubber on the sole but they don't grip well either in wet weather.

I've got a pair of Adidas PureBoost Gos ($60) that come in a 10th of a oz lighter than the Revel but I know what I'm getting with the cushion. Its going to be a plush ride at 10.4 oz.

Just got my wife a pair of these actually. She doesn’t run, but she said they were the most comfortable shoes she ever put on. I tried them on and liked them more than the launch 6s, but they didn’t seem like enough shoe for legit distance running. I’m probably going to get the Brooks Anthem. I liked it more than anything other than Ghosts.

She’ll use them for HIIT.

I’ll hopefully have a review of a new pair in a week or two.

I haven’t bought a new shoe since December of last year.
