The problem being is that I only have about 6-8 hours for riding. About 4 hours per week is spent in the gym.

Some of the increase from last week was riding from my house to the point of beginning for group rides.

3 week block was absorbed. Came out a small break into a hard zwift race which was a bit of a shock but numbers were best they been this year. Got another 2 blocks before race day and shape is right where I want it.

That’s right. I think you may have said that earlier in the thread. It looks like a fun one.

The grad student from here that was going to do Lotoja got hit by a truck and cracked 3 vertebrae and broke her pelvis on a ride in Oregon. No bueno.

I’m obviously not at y’all’s level, but this gravel ride next weekend should be fun. I’ve never done a “race” but treated the last charity “ride” as one.

1:10 in mainly Zone 2 this morning.

Gearing up for a 24 hour race in July. Plan on racing single speed. Goal is to do 10 laps. When I did the 12 hour race I used a 31lbs heavy steel more enduro geometry hard tail. I picked up an old Canfield EPO frame for $100 on FB Marketplace 12 months ago that I've converted to a single speed with spare parts laying around the house. I've been doing some 3 hour rides on it to get the fit down to find all the pain points that pop up after you are on the bike for 3+ hours. I'll be ditching the mountain helmet with visor for my gravel helmet that helps a lot with neck pain. Just ditched the Fox 34 for this Mattoc Pro. A better fork in every way. Added some inner bar ends to get more hand positions. Love these SQ lab IBE's they feel like you are on the hoods of my drop bar bike. Each lap is 10.3 miles with around 780 feet of climbing.

Nice.

30 mins in low Zone 2 last night.

66 miles this morning across zones. Latched on to some A group riders at about the half way point for a bit, but they were on a mission this morning.

Hour across zones on trainer yesterday, mainly Zone 2.

I was going to try to hit gravel today, but the last 2 nights of rain have me rethinking that.

Lifted heavy with legs yesterday then tried some sweet spot training. It didn’t work out. Legs just felt dead. Going to wait to do low zone 2 tonight, then VO2 max intervals on Wednesday.

are you spending any time at threshold? if you're only doing "low" zone 2 and v02 you are missing the most important zones as it pertains to getting stronger. should be doing less "low" zone 2 now and more sweet spot and threshold. low zone 2 is just a bike ride at that point

Most of my threshold and sweet spot work is on Saturday group ride. After this Saturday’s race, I’m going to incorporate more into weekly training routines, but not a lot. Maybe one session per week.

Also, not all of my zone 2 is “low,” but having ramped up from 4-6 hours per week (since starting riding in the middle of last year) to 8-10 over the past 2 weeks has taken a toll, so I have been riding by feel a bit in zone 2 when I need to. And this week is a taper, so I don’t plan on much hard work at all after tomorrow.
