are you taking a day off each week? i remember looking at what you said you were doing for the week and it looked like a bunch of hard workouts and no rest day. need a rest day

Finished my 3 day block felt good at the end of today. Good signs given I didn’t a 1:45 hr zwift race yesterday with an NP of 270 sea level adjusted. Now a break this weekend due to plans with the wife. Rest week next week then something big on the weekend

i'm having to kinda get readapted to the road bike. between mountain biking more lately and training for recent TT for a couple months, i haven't been on the road bike a bunch over the last few months and i can tell big time. no snap

The rest day probably didn’t hurt.

2hrs on the road friday, 3hrs on the gravel bike yesterday. About to head out for 3hrs on the road bike in a few minutes.

Probably not. Been hitting it hard the past couple of weeks.

1 rest day a week. That day off is as important as training days.

First official road ride done. Went for an hour and covered a little over 16 miles. I mainly run and do peloton here and there, cycling is a different animal! No clue how some of yall maintain 18+ avg speed and high cadence. I’m usually a high cadence rider on peloton too, but it’s tough on a real bike.

The pedals were surprisingly easy, feeling more confident there. Just need to get used to riding with and around traffic. I found myself trying to take side streets to get home to avoid major thoroughfares. Comfort was okay. Think as mentioned here I need to get a fit. Saddle could maybe come back a bit. My hands would get a little numb at times but nothing major. Figure a lot of that discomfort gets better with more riding. Also, bib shorts are weird.

Glad you got the classic out on the road! Good first ride.

I can’t wear bibs. They just ride up too much. I’m a shorts man.

Get that bike fit and keep taking it out. If you’re too worried about traffic, look at a Garmin Varia bike radar. It really has made a difference for me.

62 miles today across zones. Mainly lower intensity but pushed it a few times on the hills and a couple times on the flats to get more used to an aero position.

sunday's are for recovery rides

monday's are usually my off day but there is some rain in the forecast tues/wed and we're supposed to be going to pre-ride marathon nats course in Roanoke on thursday, so going to go rip a few laps on the mtb at lunch and make sure it's good to go for thursday

Got back home late last night from Downhill Southeast Race 4 at Windrock in Tennessee. The boy finally managed to have a mainly mistake and mechanical free weekend and slotted into p2 for seeding and then backed it up with p2 in finals. Really happy for him to put it together on a weekend. Head out to Pajarito in New Mexico for Downhill Rockies race 1 in a couple of weeks. We should get a day or two of laps at Angelfire as well while out that way.

Yep, usually. But I pushed it a little too hard yesterday and crossed into some higher zones, so I used this morning as recovery with 40 mins in Zone 2.

Fridays are my day off and I have been just trying to keep those to a short opener workout or 30 min Zone 2 just to get the poison out before group ride on Saturday.

Holy crap. Mangled? Smashed? Damn. Heal up quick.

One of our Saturday riders broke his hip on Saturday. Dogs ran out of a yard and the group slowed and there was a wheel strike and he went over. Be careful out there, fellas.

exactly.. screwing off, rest day. i told my buddy not 5 min before "i'm gonna hit one of these f'n trees sooner or later".

we have trees everywhere here so i think i'm going to invest in some nice gloves with a little knuckle protection. this isnt the first tree ive punched lol

My son put moto style hand guards on my Izzo (which he uses as his trail/xc training bike) for that reason, because he’s usually riding tight, tree lined trails at high speeds whereas in DH the trails are usually wider.

1 hour low Zone 2 last night. Legs were trash after high volume last week and leg day in gym on Monday.

45 min VO2 max this morning. Legs feeling a little better. Race is on 5/31, so probably going to start tapering now.
