I don’t know if it’s physically good or bad or neither for a 14 year old to take creatine. I’m not a doctor nor do I claim to be a medical expert.

But at 14, he needs to fall in love with the process of fitness, not the results. I would encourage you emphasizing that. The results will come.

Creatine is healthy for all ages. Doctors don't take nutrition courses in medical school. They are taught to shove pills down throats to treat symptoms.

Most doctors know how to do two things:

Medicate it

Cut it out of you

Very few understand training and eating/supplementing for performance.

Jesus no a doctor can’t, at least in 99% of cases

Look at the studies, it’s safe and every breathing mammal on the planet that is healthy should be taking it

Find me a proven case study where creatine caused kidney issues…not the doctor doesn’t understand blood work but real issues.

Go look at examine.com and actually do research

Outside of the effects on the muscles, the benefits on the brain are huge for children and adults alike but especially in children, developing teens and the elderly.

I usually don’t take hard stances on supplements but absolutely every athlete should be taking it, every person on earth should be if they are healthy, but especially teenage athletes. Anyone saying other wise is an ignorant frick, period.

There is literally no wiggly room here. There is no, talk to your doctor no nothing. Its very very clear on this issue as there are 35+ years of research and creatine is the most studied supplement in history and has been found extremely safe in every meta analysis and extremely beneficial for all kinds of things, most importantly brain health.

Get the regular creatine monohydrate powder, 5 to 10 grams a day. Most people don’t need anymore than that. Increase your electrolytes. Find a good electrolyte packet then mix the creatine and packet in with water.

You can also blend it in with a good reliable protein powder; if extra calories are needed then consider a good coconut oil that has a healthy amount of mct’s

Creatine is natural and safe. The isn’t the Jack3d pre workout that soldiers supposedly died after abusing the hell out of. Whatever study that was published (if there was one) probably just correlated increased creatine with increase blood creatinine levels.

Bloodwork shouldn’t be a concern for a 14 year old unless he has some impairment or chronic illness that warrants it

I'm saying that his physician should be able to provide proper insight into his health and perhaps would recommend something besides a supplement.
Most physicians have no clue proper diet/exercise/supplementation. It isnt a knock against the doc, they just aren;t taught those things

Give your son 5 grams of creatine monohydrate daily.

End the thread. It's not rocket science.

If you are too scared to do that then give him a steak daily. A steak contains roughly 5g of creatine.

This recent guest on Joe Rogan's podcast discusses some benefits of taking creatine in addition to muscle protein synthesis. One study had elderly women taking up to 20 grams per day and they showed improved brain function. There were also some sleep benefits reported. I take 10 grams of creatine per day in addition to a minimum of 1.5- 2 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight. I have been taking creatine for over 20 years with no negative side effects and yes, most physicians are not equipped to give advice on nutrition. I've been calling on cardiologists and cardiac surgeons for 20+ years and some of the crap I have heard.
