I was considering adding DHEA to the supplements that I take in the morning. I have talked to two different Doctors and I have been advised to not take any testosterone boosting agents due to having been diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2016. I had removal in 2018. So just curious as to what the H/F Boards thoughts were.

I would feel as if low test levels would cause prostate cancer levels

You should join the Ray Peat forum and learn all you can about low Test and prostate cancer. It’s the opposite of conventional wisdom.

When I started supplementing a topical DHEA/pregnenone in MCT oil with some androsterone, I stopped pissing 50 times a night. It literally fixed my BPH and my testosterone levels are around 700.

man im always careful with this and you should absolutely listen to your doctor

but my personal opinion is this........how many bodybuilders do you see getting cancer? not many. actually the percentage is way lower than gen pop. other health issues...sure but not cancer and these are guys with jacked up IGF levels and pumping all kinds of hormones.

I personally feel estrogen is a bigger issue.

again this is just my opinion. please listen to your doctor.

Curious as to what you mean?

I lowered my DHEA to 25 mg a day from 50. I have noticed less breakout of my chest and back and better sleep.

I just got done doing a 90 day protocol of 50mg oral DHEA (split into two dosages 25mg in morning first thing upon waking and 25mg about 5 hours later) I also took 18mg of boron with it. What did I notice? Oily skin was only side effect. No acne.

Did it work? I am not sure. I felt fine throughout whole process and I suspect the boron was/is more beneficial. I am still 2 weeks out from bloodwork being drawn to tell.

I think like most things DHEA might work better for some and not as well for others for hormonal regulation. We are all different. I did not have any negative impacts from the DHEA but that doesn't mean others won't.

They die before 50

I was going to say the same thing. Heart attack before cancer develops

Thanks to all that have responded. When my Doctors advised against testosterone boosting agents it was more like they were erring on the side of caution.

I decided to take 50 mg for a month and see how I feel. I started today and I have noticed a definite boost in energy.

You can get DHEA levels tested. I have had to change doses several times when the test showed that the levels were either too high or low.

Been on test (weekly) and compounded (vs otc) DHEA (daily) for over ten years. DHEA enhances the test to sustain energy levels in and out of the gym. Check PSA every six months, so far so good. DHEA runs me about $95 per month supply. Got off of it a while back and really noticed the difference in energy level and overall well being. Highly recommend.
