But is there a way to get a cpap machine without the test?
You need a prescription to buy a new machine. You can get a used one off Facebook marketplace.
The online supply vendors will send you a home test kit then based on the results have a doctor write the prescription,
check out sleeplay.com

Idk I’ve kinda given up on it. Maybe I’ll see a dead person one at a garage sale or something. I think suffering is a part of getting older

You didn't mention the type of work you do. Is that job stressful?
i'm an active duty Marine officer, which sounds like it could be stressful, and depending on many variables it can be, but currently no - my job right now is very easy and laid back

Don’t hear most people here posting their water intake. Most people are under hydrated and it’s arguably the most important thing we can focus on. Look up Huberman’s morning routine. We all need to be slamming a lot of water in the morning and throughout day. Are your potassium and d3 numbers good on bloodwork too? I’m guessing it’s mostly a hydration issue. You need to cut down caffeine, you only need that much because you are tired for other reasons and have become dependent on it. This is not normal. Don’t have any after 12-1
i drink 2-3 Nalgenes a day, so i think my water intake is pretty decent. not sure on the potassium and d3 numbers, i'll have to look it up and report back
100% agree on the caffeine. i'm making an effort this week to cut my numbers down to "jeez that's a lot of caffeine" from "HOLY shite DUDE THAT'S A frickTON OF CAFFEINE". baby steps.

I think sleep study is going to be a big factor in determining your root issue. I know people in much better physical shape than me that were diagnose, started CPAP, and says it has been life changing.

I sure hope so man. This sucks.

I googled “symptoms of too much caffeine” and much of your OP was in the search results. Just an FYI.

I agree. But the problem is that they're also all symptoms of pretty much anything you Google symptoms of.
I know my caffeine intake is way to high and definitely contributes to the problem. But my caffeine intake has been steadily too high for a long time, and this afternoon/evening fatigue and drop in motivation is only within the last few weeks / couple months. Some other variable has to be at play for things change so abruptly.

Or your body is finally shutting down to the prolonged consumption of caffeine. Plus age will play a factor I’m sure. What we drank and ate at 30 is much different than 40.

You could be right about that, certainly makes sense that at some point your body is just like "no more"

last summer i started doing some farm work for the first time in years. i quickly spun up to drinking 2 gallons of water before noon with electrolytes (redmonds). immediately my sleep improved. i now think i was dehydrated for 30 years and never knew it (im 45). i love coffee and can easily drink a pot on my own before 8am.
i now keep one gallon of water at my desk and one gallon in my vehicle. drink ~1.5 gallons/day. i splurged and bought 2 yeti gallons. however algae will grow in em so has to be washed every few weeks. If i did it again id try to find copper
i bought an expensive eyeshade (manta), a chili pad for the mattress, paper tape for my mouth so i breathe through my nose, and wear foam earplugs every night. i recommend all of these but more water is #1
also i get up appx 430am every day, and take a 15 minute nap most early afternoons. close the door and knock it out
as i heard on some podcast, "become a professional sleeper"

Eat steak, grass fed beef, chicken, fish, blueberries, blackberries, or raspberries, drink a couple of whey isolate shakes a day, get 8 hours of sleep, train hard with heavy weights and get 10,000 steps a day and drink 3 to 4 liters of water a day throughout the day. Be active. Cut out all processed foods. It’s actually easy once you start doing this.

It's actually not easy to be active, train hard, lift, and run when you can't sleep. I eat healthy already. I drink plenty water already. Did you read my post?

bumping this because i got quite an unexpected answer and i have been through an absolutely batshit crazy experience since i posted this a little over a month ago. right around this same time i started experiencing crazy anxiety and panic attacks, which i have NEVER had in my entire life.
right around the first of October i went to the ER because i thought i was having a heart attack but it was actually a panic attack. durign that ER visit, they ran a standard blood panel on me which showed abnormal creatinine levels in my kidneys and reduced kidney function as well as increased enzymes in my liver. this sent me into an absolute spiral of health anxiety, worsening panic attacks, and damn near an inability to function at all. i ended up taking an extended time off from work just because my mental health suddenly completely came apart at the seams - something that i have NEVER dealt with in my life.
fast forward to about ten days ago, i was BACK in the ER because the panic and anxiety had reached levels that i was seriously considering checking myself into a mental institution. all i knew was that something was bad, bad wrong in my head and i couldnt explain it. on a whim, my wife (a nurse) asked the ER doc to check my thyroid levels.
turns out i'm severely hypothyroid. my TSH levels were like off the charts high. my doc immediately put me on synthroid, which i'm been on for i guess about a week and a half now. it was the key to EVERYTHING. the fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, panic attacks, even the kidney and liver lab stuff (which are pretty much back to normal now).
October was like a black hole of insanity that i am finally climbing out of. gives me chills going back and reading my OP on this thread knowing now what i was just barely on the verge of having to go through.
so if you have similar symptoms and you're getting labs run, it's worth it to get them to check your thyroid! would have saved me a month of hell!
p.s. i'm down well under 400mg of caffeine a day now. energy drinks and pre-workout totally cut out. just coffee and occasional diet soda.

You’re not going to sleep in a cage and there will be no college kids taunting you.
It’s done by a certified sleep technician in a separate little room monitoring you.

I feel like you’re set up to fail these things
Like could I bring beer in? How else am I gonna sleep?
