So are seated leg extensions really bad for you?

I've seen lots of YouTube videos from reputable guys (Athlean-X, for example) saying they are bad for your knees, but I've spoken with other PT guys and a few of them say they aren't bad so long as you do them slowly.
I'd like to hear the board's thoughts on this.

Especially heavy extensions.
All the stress is placed on the knee in this movement. Find something else to hit the lower quad region like hack squats.

I do them with lower weight. More like a good warm up before leg press or squats

They shouldn't be a heavy movement. They are a finisher and are fine if you do lower weight, higher reps for volume.

I do them after squats. Low weight and slow movement hold at the top for 3 secs each rep. Not Quite locked out so feel a incredible. Burn. 4 sets of 8 reps after squats.

Low weight, high rep, one leg at a time
