I recently got back in the gym and exert a lot of energy. However I haven’t noticed any improvement in my conditioning even though I do about 30 mins of cardio each day. After each work out my chest feels really tight and it takes awhile to catch my breath. Any suggestions?

I’ll add that I always seemed to be stopped up. I wonder if it could be a deviated septum issue

In all seriousness, you need to go to a doctor ASAP. Might be nothing, but that’s also a sign you might have a blockage. Better to be on the safe side.

How long have you been at it? What kind of cardio are you doing?

I’m running around playing basketball with some guys from work. Then I’ll do whichever workout the day consists of. Then I go shoot some more. I’ll add that I’m 27, 5’11” and 205 lbs

My dad had his first heart attack at 31. Probably nothing at a healthy 27, but see a cardiologist and rule it out.

That's a lot of variability to be able to judge your progress. If you want to build endurance I would do some steady state cardio, like jogging, and slowly build the time or intensity.

In the beginning you should see large chunks of progress. When I started running I went from only being able to jog 1/2 mile to going for and hour straight in 6 months.

May be a by product of having Covid. I had it first week of Jan ans had lingering cough /tightness for 2 more weeks,

Or you could have a clogged heart valve. How important is it you?

Get checked out to be safe. I went and found out I was days from dying. Had 95 percent blockage in the widow maker vein. My grand father and uncle died before they were 50 from that.
