Running on a low carb diet

I’ve been on a low carb diet for a week now I’m an effort to lose a few pounds and maximize my running goals. My current weight is about 170 but I’d like to drop 10-15 pounds (155-160).
I have ran 4 times since starting this diet anywhere from 4-10 miles each day and they have been the more horrible runs in quite a while. I have felt so depleted with the lack of my usual carb intake. My previous intake was around 300g and I have scaled back to around 20-30g. Carbs were a good source, but the calories kept me heavier than I want to be. Any advice on getting through this lull and having better performance in my workouts? Anything that I can use as a good fuel source until my body gets used to this change?

Up your carbs on your run days, or at least your longer run days.
Also this might sound weird, but in my running days I found I could actually get "too light", which affected my workouts and race times. In short, your target weight might not actually be your best performance running weight. Its probably different for everyone, hopefully you can hit the sweet spot that maximizes your performance while meeting your weight goals.

How much fat are you taking in?

Maybe you need to up your protein. And 80g of fats isn’t a lot on low carbs diets.

The first 2-3 weeks of running on a low carb diet were awful for me. I was questioning whether I was doing the right thing going low carb. But once my body adjusted to not having the carbs to burn, things got much better. It just took some time. So my advice is to just keep at it.

how fast are you doing your workouts? it could be you simply need to lower your intensity level.

Been low carb for 6 weeks now and my runs still aren't great. In a few weeks I'm going to try to change things up a bit and maybe add a bowl of oats before my runs and see if that helps.

I found that my runs got better when I started low carb, but I was very fat. Before my workout, I have a snack of avocado and pecans. I assume some form of protein shake would do the same thing.

Just give it some time, your metabolism is basically born again, you’re like a baby. I recently heard that people who do keto long-term don’t actually have high blood serum key tones, so maybe your body gets better at Neoglucogenesis
