See I would never want to look like the way the skinny kid looks at 175. Not nearly enough muscle imo. The pic at 200, frick yea, but not the skinny kid.
I think that's why me and you disagree some. I would never want to be skinny just to be skinny. I was like that all through my teens and early twenties before I became a fat boy. Being skinny just to be does not appeal to me at all and influences my recommendations big time. To me one should strive to look like the 200# pic. Not saying it will be easy, but that should be the goal no matter the age.

quote:I don't have a beef (see what I did there?) with that point of view. Maybe put the kid at 185 instead and it's perfect. In any event, I don't care about getting all bulked up. I care about being fit at the natural weight my diet settles me at. And for me, that happens to be thin. There are all different body types, and outcomes will naturally be different. However, I still reject the other guy's implication that I am somehow "not enjoying life" because I don't look all bulked up. Sort of just a puzzling remark.

You are the one that made the snarky comment about "liking to enjoy life"
It wasn't a snarky comment. I was saying that I don't concern myself too much with ultra visible abs. I'd rather be big, strong, and not a complete fatass. Do what you want of course. If your goal is to look like the skinny kid I hope you reach it. I just believe that if I'm going to train, I'm going to train hard, or else what's the point? You said it would be easier to look like skinny guy, and that you'd rather do that. It's easier, I get it. I'd rather bust my arse if I'm going to be in the gym 3-5 days a week. Good luck.

Christ you're dense.

Does he look overly large to you at 175 pounds? Yeah he looks cut up, but put a polo shirt on him and he's going to look like a tall skinny guy.
FWIW, I have never had any desire whatsoever to look "large"
I also looked very similar to that guy in the pic, although I have broader chest/shoulders, so that does help me not get swallowed by shirts.

If you hold weight like me, you are probably a higher bf% than you realize. At 5'10" I've been over 240 without a big gut or man boobs. Got in denial about needing to lose some weight because I was lifting like crazy.
Dropped 30 lbs over the past two years and noticed a massive difference. I'm down below 210 and still probably just under 20% bf.

quote:I'm sorry if I misconstrued you, but your message is confusing at best. On the one hand, you said you don't want to look like the skinny guy because you "like enjoying life". On the other hand, you'd prefer to "bust your arse". Which is it?

Can't I do both? How is this confusing? Bust arse in the gym, enjoy myself afterwards. You can't be this dense.

You said exactly this:
quote:My read of that was that the "model with razor abs" was referring to the kid. If that's not what you meant, that's 100% of the confusion explained.
My goal is to be strong, with slabs of muscle, and not too fat. I also like to enjoy life, so I don't get too hung up on looking like a model with razor abs.

Its not what I meant. Confusion alleviated.
