Just started Benchaholic today.

5 days of benching. Whew! Bumped my max down to 85% for this one. I normally don’t do that. But, I think it’s a must here.

so im deciding today what program to start. I am cutting and want to focus on upper body, no more than 4 days a week.

i am running this for a month until a beach vacation where i will take off completely, so i dont mind over extending some on the volume. This is strictly aesthetics focused in the end

this is the ones i was thinking of, would love opinions

21 to party- 4 days a week, volume is limited somewhat and balanced

Arm Farm 2- the way i am leaning. 4 days a week, tons of arm and shoulder work.

Pool Season 1- lots of upper body work, seems to be a fan favorite here

Filling out the hoodie 1- 4 days a week, lots of upper body focus. Really like to look of it.

Like i mentioned really leaning towards arm farm 2 and getting after it.

Whats everyone elses opinions?

Pool Season I was good for strength gains. Not sure how it would correlate to leaning out.

Athlean X Max Shred has always been my go to before beach vacations.

I'm not sure which workout is best in the PPSA world when it comes to cutting.

imo cutting is more about diet and keeping volume from getting out of hand. this would only be for the final push of a month so not worried about getting over extended some.

honestly i hate athlean x programming. If i was gonna do anything else besides ppsa, i would just stick to greyskull or do ryan fischers high intensity bodybuilding

Probably can't go wrong with this one, but I haven't ran it yet.

Ran this one in April. I am running again this month. Awesome program. Light on squats, but the upper body development is great! Ended up with much bigger traps, forearms, bis/tris, and chest.

Some of the tricep and bicep pump at the end of the workouts was ridiculous.

I wouldn't say I hate it. Mine, is more a case of boredom.
Hence the reason I've switched over to PPSA.

So I went back and read this entire thread. I haven't lifted consistently in a couple years. Haven't done anything fitness wise in about 6 months sans a few random spurts of cardio. Getting married at the end of this year and have a ton of weight to lose (I realize this is mostly diet)

However, would you recommend Grasshopper or Greyskull for aesthetics workout-wise? 3 or 4 day doesn't make much of a difference, I plan to get some cardio in on the other days

Grasshopper seems more simple, but I saw you post earlier in this thread about it not progressing as quickly. I suspect I'll get at least some beginner gains since it's been so long

honestly, since you havent lifted in a couple years, i would say greyskull with lots of hard conditioning, greyskull style.

but you could easily do the following

grasshopper- combined with 10-12 min hard conditioing after each session + daily walks working up to 360 min a week

then to filling out the hoodie 1 & 2, then prolly arm farm to look your best for the wedding.

keep the conditioning to 10-12 min hard like outlined in the greyskull conditioning books, keep the daily walking up to around 360min a week and then get the diet on point with lots and lots of protein and in a caloric deficiet and i think you would be happy.

personally if it was me....

i would do gresykull aesthetics template for 8 weeks follored by greyskull lci. I actually came off of a year layoff of barbell work and have been doing the aesthetics template for 5+ months now and have seen fantastic results while mainly only getting in 2 workouts a week.

choice is yours and i dont think you can go wrong either way. I will say if you get bored easy, go with PPSA, if you like routine...go with greyskull.

I would assume regardless of greyskull or grasshopper, the 10-12 mins of hard conditioning you're recommending would be the same for either?

What options do you have for the 10-12 mins of conditioning? Burpees?

so basically it could be

Saturday - Workout + 10-12 mins conditioning
60 mins walking

Sunday - 60 mins walking

Monday - 60 mins walking

Tuesday - Workout + 10-12 mins conditioning
60 mins walking

Wednesday 60 mins walking

Thursday - Workout + 10-12 mins conditioning
60 mins walking

Friday - off

Regardless of greyskull or grasshopper I could run this schedule I assume? (I know second half of grasshopper is 4 days/week)

I'm curious - how long is each session in Grasshopper intended to take? I'm finding including a 15 minute treadmill warmup before starting its taking around 90 minutes. Does that sound about right, or is that indicative of me taking too long between sets?

well there are 12 main sets with 2.5 min rest between so 3 min overall- 36 min

cardio- 3 super sets- 9 min

warmup on ppsa- 2 super sets of 3 exercises- 6 min

so without even a ramping warmup you are looking at 50+ min. add warm up ramping and i would say hour and 15 is about right for commercial gym.

plus your 15 min treadmill so yea 90 min sounds about right.

Would I use the below template if I did greyskull? Your post from the other thread

quote:

LSU777 GSLP for Aesthetics- so I see alot of people jumping straight to this template, for the record this is more of a intermediate lifter. Shouldn't really be rowing until you can deadlift 405 for reps and do 10-12 bodyweight chins.

Week 1:
• Monday-
o Press-2x5,1x5+
o High Incline DB Press-3x10-12
o Weighted Chin-2x6-8
o Yates Row-2x6-8
o Squat-2x5,1x5+

• Wednesday-
o Incline Barbell Bench-2x5,1x5+
o Barbell Curl- 2x10-12
o Close Grip Bench-2x8,1x8+
o DB Side Lateral Raise Super-setted with Face Pulls-2x10-12
o Deadlift-1x5+

• Friday-
o Press-2x5,1x5+
o High Incline DB Press-3x10-12
o Weighted Chin-2x6-8
o Yates Row-2x6-8
o Squat-2x5,1x5+

Week 2:
• Monday-
o Incline Barbell Bench-2x5,1x5+
o Barbell Curl- 2x10-12
o Close Grip Bench-2x8,1x8+
o DB Side Lateral Raise Super-setted with Face Pulls-2x10-12
o Squat-2x5,1x5+

• Wednesday-
o Press-2x5,1x5+
o High Incline DB Press-3x10-12
o Weighted Chin-2x6-8
o Yates Row-2x6-8
o Deadlift-1x5+

• Friday-
o Incline Barbell Bench-2x5,1x5+
o Barbell Curl- 2x10-12
o Close Grip Bench-2x8,1x8+
o DB Side Lateral Raise Super-setted with Face Pulls-2x10-12
o Squat-2x5,1x5+

Also, I assume the 360 mins of walking needs to be fasted?

thanks for the help sir.

I looked up the scribd greyskull conditioning workouts and it looks like I need a subscription

I guess if I sign up for the free 14 days I can download a couple of them and then cancel the membership?
