Anyone with a peloton bike able to explain how it interfaces with heart rate monitors and what benefits it provides? I know your heart rate shows up on screen but does the bike use that data to adjust your caloric burn or provide any metric on how you fared during the ride? I'm trying to figure out if one is worth buying.

Yes it more accurately tracks calories burned and they also use it for their somewhat new “strive score”.

Don’t worry about calories burned, it’s not accurate

They have an older category of rides called heart zone rides where zones are based on heart rate. They have mostly abandoned that for power zone with zones set based on max output.

I like mine as I enjoy tracking metrics, but it’s not necessary.

You'll have a heart rate zone on screen, and it'll relate to your strain score.
