Fought it for awhile. Mentioned it to an ortho dr. and he said that once the crystals form on your joints they are there forever. Said that it contributes to arthritis.

I've taken allopurinol since that day.

I take 300 mg allopurinol daily which usually keeps it in check.
Got a shot in my right knee about an hour ago.It was like magic last time,

Is your gout due to overproduction of uric acid or due to reduced ability to eliminate the uric acid? Allopurinol may nit be the right medicine for you. I was on a different med for a while with one or two attacks a year, no attacks in over 7 years since switching medications, with no changes to diet.

Good questions 421. I am not sure. Need to ask my internist. I do know allopurinol is making my hair fall out faster.

Folks I know this remedy might sound crazy but I started having Gout Attacks at age 30. I really only drank beer stayed away from most seafood but still was having crazy attacks. I read somewhere that a beer drinker went to Canadian Whisky and it helped this person. Two plus years ago I stopped drinking beer completely and only drink like Crown or Pendelton now. No attacks since then. I also eat shrimp and a lot of fish now as well. For some of you loyal beer drinkers this might do the trick for you.
