Yeah I keep flavored soda in my fridge. We get the off brand from Albertsons, it is pretty good and about half the price of la croix

I know it's not great for me, but diet soda is definitely my preferred drink. I don't drink enough water at all...trying to work on that. When I get drinks from the store though, half of them are usually caffeine free...I'll count that as a win

I'm always curious of the contents of "natural flavor"

Chemicals they extracted from the oils of the labeled fruits.

LINK

quote:

The term natural flavor or natural flavoring means the essential oil, oleoresin, essence or extractive, protein hydrolysate, distillate, or any product of roasting, heating or enzymolysis, which contains the flavoring constituents derived from a spice, fruit or fruit juice, vegetable or vegetable juice, edible yeast, herb, bark, bud, root, leaf or similar plant material, meat, seafood, poultry, eggs, dairy products, or fermentation products thereof, whose significant function in food is flavoring rather than nutritional. Natural flavors include the natural essence or extractives obtained from plants listed in Secs. 182.10, 182.20, 182.40, and 182.50 and part 184 of this chapter, and the substances listed in Sec. 172.510 of this chapter.

Artificial flavors are the exact same thing, except the chemicals were made in a lab instead of extracted from a real food source. No real difference, as a molecule is a molecule, but people like the term "natural" over the term "artificial".

Well if Cherry is natural and you have an artificial way of flavoring something cherry flavored. BAM! natural flavor!

I think La Croix tastes like sweat or worse. It is oddly "flat" tasting yet bubbly. Very weird stuff. Maybe I'm drinking the wrong flavor? Is there a "best" flavor? I'm using it at night to replace nightly wine but am struggling to choke it down.

Still no cure for the 4 diet cokes a day though. I drink the ones with splenda ... not sure if that is better than aspartame. Really need to stop. And no, I'm not overweight.

I try not to drink them that much anymore. The carbonated flavored water drinks now (LaCroix, etc) have seemed to help fulfill my desire for soda.

I still might drink a diet soda a couple times a month when I need a caffeine boost and don't want coffee.
