The high was 40 here in Wichita today so I figured I’d go run outside. Made the bright idea of going in short shorts and no gloves without checking temps at the actual time I was running. Just got in from an hour and I can’t feel my fingers or penis. It’s 32.
Fml.
After my run Saturday I went to take off my gloves with my mouth, I bit the tar out of my finger to the point it was bleeding a bit once I got my gloves off... didn't feel a single thing. Very weird sensation.
Once Sunday has come to a close I will have done my first 40 mile week since the Marathon, this time around I have 4 times more 40+ mile weeks and 3 50 mile weeks (I've never done a 50 mile week before), hopefully this training block will help me get over the 22 mile hump.
I also learned I wasn't doing enough nutrition, so going to bump the nutrition numbers up a bit at the next Marathon

I went for a run on Tuesday and thought I was tough enough to go without gloves. I had to run my hands under warm water when I got home to get my fingers to uncurl

we had a track workout in college (I think it was our first workout back on campus for winter semester) at neville high where it was like 20 degrees with a wind chill in the teens. Me and my bright ideas thought it was a great idea to run that workout in only long tights and a hoody. It took the entire drive back to ULM and about 30 minutes in hot water to regain feeling in everything.
Still haven’t learned my lesson clearly
I’m getting 16 in tomorrow alternating 4 miles on an indoor track at a local y 4 miles on a tread. Gonna be boring as hell but better than frostbite.

Man I'm running up a huge hill tomorrow to start my run (something like 350ft of elevation gain in 2 miles...) and the "RealFeel" for 7am when we start is 3 degrees. I've already told my running buddy he had better keep the pace up for me to stay warm tomorrow or I'm going to be pissed lol

Yea frick all that.
My run wasn’t the most interesting but I left warm and able to feel everything. I did cut down to 14 miles because I was just over it. Did hold 6:48 average tho.

Waited until noon to do my 12 miles today. Drug around in zone 2&3 today. Snot rockets were incredible.

I also come here so Pedro can make me feel like a terrible runner.

I don’t want that at all

You really missed out on the trek up to English Village this morning

P.S: I almost died

People are just built differently. In my case it's lungs, I was not born with lungs that work worth a shite. It's impressive and also confusing how some of you can just go fast and keep going. I can't run as fast as my legs want to, and I haven't figured out how to run as slow as my lungs require. So I do 30 minute runs and other workouts and that works for me.

Saw the pics on the BTC page. Didn’t look like many out there today.

10 miles done. Didn't see a single person until I was almost done. I guess that's what a feels like temp of 20 does. I wised up and wore gloves and layers today so the only thing that froze was my dick

Yeah super low crowd and most of even those were only doing 8 instead of 12.
My two runs this weekend had me questioning my commitment to running.

I'm officially out of the 30 miles a week zone. Post my first marathon last year (in April) I built myself up and averaged about 30 miles a week, my goal coming off the one in December was to get up to a consistent 40...
Next week is a cut back but I plan to stay in the 40s until peak week (minus the occasional cut back like next week).
I don't see myself bumping up to the 50s after this marathon though, who knows if I'll ever do 50s consistently, that just feels like an extreme commitment that I don't have the time for in my current life

Hate to keep spamming this thread, but have a question for you Pedro.
In your experience which is more beneficial - doing Tempo / Pace miles the immediate day before your long run and resting the day after the long run, or doing your tempo / pace miles 2 days before your long run and having a day rest, doing your long run, and then running a 5-7 mile recovery the day after the long run and then resting?

Typically Ill do a workout on thursday which is anything from tempo miles to intervals depending on where im at on my cycle, easy recovery on friday, long on saturday, rest on sunday. Sometimes ill flipflop saturday and sunday depending on how my body feels or whats going on that week. I just find my body responds better having the recovery run sandwiched between my workout and long run so I can focus on attacking a couple miles in the long run harder if I want. Usually my workout days are Monday/Thursday. Tuesday/Friday recovery. Wednesday moderate long run and Saturday long run.
This cycle im contemplating with dabbling in splitting the long run over two days but I havent commited to that yet. My buddy I ran grandmas with planted the idea of doing like 24 miles split into a late saturday early sunday type thing where you get 18 on saturday and 6 at tempo on sunday. Im intrigued by it but not committed to it.

Gotcha, yeah one of the reasons I'm doing my current schedule is this:
Tuesday - Workout, intervals, hill repeats, etc.
Wednesday - Recovery Run (this allows my body to heal while adding miles after workouts)
Thursday - Tempo / Pace work (almost always sandwiched between a warm up and cool down)
Friday - Rest, because:
Saturday - Long Run and like you after the rest I feel like I can hit the hills and end a bit harder, adding small workouts to the long run as I go along
Sunday - Recovery Run (I used to have this on Friday but it felt out of place, now it feels like I'm teaching myself to push through the pain and hopefully train myself to keep going for the next race I'm doing?)
Monday Rest and start all over again
I must overdo my layers below my waist because I don't feel like I've had to resort to this yet

Yea I’d say your schedule is good. It falls in line with a lot of other plans I’ve seen out there. A lot of mine pulls from things I did in college or have done with athletes I’ve coached. I tend to be slightly lenient with giving myself an extra day off here in there as long as I’m not going over two days off.
Case in point I had a flat on the way home and am now sitting in the dealership waiting for it to get patched so I might be pushing my workout back to tomorrow.

Oh yes, I will always give myself a "life got in the way" or "I'm not feeling 100%" days here and there. Like this week was already going to be a cut back week for me and this morning I woke up with aches and a completely stopped up head... my runs this week are going to be modified. (Also my average Monday stress score on Garmin is 19, today it has been 39, I do not want to push myself and end up injured, my goals will be down to a 0% if I end up injured)
Tomorrow should be my workout, I might not even run after I take stock of my health in the morning.
