Update: 1) I was signed up for the 14k instead of the 21k (half) and I took 1st overall. 2) Thr rain held off until just after I finished.

Nabbed a PR at the CCC. Snuck in just under 46 minutes. Ran pretty consistent 7:25ish splits and gave a good sprint in for the last 0.20. I think I could have pushed for 45:30 or 45:00 flat, but at mile 4.5 with my foot acting up and breathing getting heavy that sure didn’t seem possible

Shoutout Thomas who I ran with for most of the race, was nice to have someone to cruise along with haha.

We were pretty close to one another! Good stuff, got a poster

I think I'm going to take a few months to build up a bigger base. My fitness on 25mpw works alright for 5ks and shorter but i could use some aerobic development if I'm going to do anything longer

Nice! What was your time?

When I first checked the results I was 503rd overall male and was so pissed, but I guess the times weren’t finalized. Ended up 501st overall I think.

alright, I have gotten the running bug again. I want to attempt a marathon, thinking next years Houston

Been running with my daughter in the stroller for a couple mouths now. A few times a week. Usually 3-4 miles with 5-7 miles on the weekend. before that i was mostly getting my cardio in on the peloton

Usually around 9-10 minute pace. Sometimes in the high 8s. My last half was 2019, ran it at 2:24 but I am in better shape now.

Been lifting a good bit as well and i don't plan on cutting back on that

So i got basically 8 months to train. My goal is to finish and I would like to do under 4 hours. Thinking if i cut 10-15 lbs that will make it a lot easier

yall got any tips? What Training would you do thru the summer before i start really ramping up

I'd just focus on building mileage. Maybe add 1 workout a week and have every 3rd or 4th long run have a good sustained effort at your goal pace so youre getting a feel for it before you start your ramp up.

Planned on a 20ish mile run this morning. Ended up running a marathon. Had forgotten how much the last 5-6 miles sucked

Had a weird week due to a death in my wife’s family. Got a lot of shorter easier runs in but got back after it yesterday. 9 miles in at 6:27 pace yesterday and a half today at 1:26 even (no warmup and into a gnarly head wind for a large chunk of the run) with a mileish cooldown after. feeling pretty dang good right now.

ETA: has anyone done 3 bridges in Little Rock? Thinking of making that my marathon debut.

She needed to find a way to create distance with 5k to go I think. that was her only hope of winning it. Still awesome to see her get top 5.

I watched the Talbi guy that was 5th on the mens side compete alot in college (I coached at an NAIA while he was at Oklahoma City). Dude is insane. I had a kid finish 4th at the national indoor meet in the 5k a couple years ago and he lapped him twice winning it.

She looked so smooth throughout the race. Surprised she fell as far off as she did against the rest of the pack in the last 2 miles.

She looks a little wide for a marathoner. I wonder if she can actually trim down a tiny bit.

She definitely has more of a true "athlete" build. If that makes sense. Today was a minute PR for her though so who knows. Maybe the extra muscle helped her.
