Thoughts on the trials?

That course is a turd and the streets look like shite. Atlanta is a great city but having the trials there was a stupid as USA T&F having indoors in New Mexico.

Currently watching on the app because of this gripping presser.

ETA: I gave Walmsey way too much credit. Cat just doesn't have "the stuff".

Yeah, Jim is toast and was never a factor of course. Anxious to see this race for 2, 3, would like to see both Korir and Riley make it. The women’s looks like it may come down to the wire.

They kept talking about Des; she has no chance. She didn't have a chance before the race started IMO. Tough as nails mentally but just doesn't have her best stuff anymore.

And yes I know she's in the top 5 right now.

Siedel deep in the cave. Her face is what I imagine Marathon racing to feel like.

Some people have fast marathon debuts.

She looks relaxed. Marathon racing at his point in the race feels like you might die at any second.

Her form looks fine, but her face looks grimaced to me. Not that it mattered. I’m a fan.

Top 3 men in Alpha’s, eh?

I like Hasay and Sisson. Wish at least one of em would have made it.

Yeah, crazy. Hoka's, Saucony, and Alpha in the women's. In that order.

And I take it back. Des is still strong but those Brooks are turds. Put her in any other shoe and she qualifies.

Wonder if Nike will pick Riley up now? I’d say it’s pretty much a given huh?

Riley is in the position to say frick you pay me with that finish. Top dollar wins him I bet.

True. I read somewhere that he didn’t really seek out a sponsor because he pretty much wanted to wear AF’s or VF’s and didn’t wanna sign with another company and wonder “what if”, if he didn’t qualify...

Does Walmsley qualify in Nikes?

In any event, thought he acquitted himself well enough. Not even a top 3 Walmsley blow up

No.

Didn't he say he was in 2:10 shape?

I think he might be a contender if he didn't train like an idiot.

I think it was more “I think I’m in 2:10 shape,” but I’m also not sure if he meant under perfect conditions or at the trials

It’d be interesting to see him fully commit to road racing for a bit (ETA: although I guess Comrades is on the road), but I’m sure it’d be a foolish decision for him from a notoriety and financial standpoint

I think he could be right up there with a coach and proper training. But he’s the face of Ultra in the US so I don’t see him changing anything

I need too. Luckily the next two weeks aren't gonna have me running around like a chicken with my head cut off.

I don't know what to buy. Figured I'd just get something that feels good.

Did the Houston rodeo 10k

PR At 59 minutes on the dot.

Would have been better but the last mile we merged with the walking 5k people. Didn't have running lane and had to juke in/out. I was gassed at the finish line. Did the first 4 around 8:45.

Anyway felt good. Hope to be around that pace for the half next year if not better
