signed up for the tupelo marathon on labor day weekend. i'm sure i'll regret it. the motto of the race is "trample the weak, hurdle the dead". at least it will give me motivation over the summer.

Race starts at 5 am but even then I am expecting brutal conditions. Funny enough this is the race my dad hit his PR on.

9 hour shift on my feet after this morning is fun

Speed work in the new Zoom Flys
Did 2 800m ladders with 20 air squats and push ups between each interval
Brutal
Really like the Zoom Flys for running, not so much for squats. Felt like my ankle was going to roll.

Yeah too narrow for squats IMO. Did cruise intervals at 15K pace in them today (7:29, 7:31, 7:19). Damn, I love those shoes. So effortless.

That’s what I ran in today too!
Excited to use the 4% in a couple weeks!

I’m starting to get more followers and am following as well on Strava. If you don’t get a kudos from me, it’s not because I don’t love you anymore, it’s because my feed is a hot mess of runs.
I’ll still try to be there for the tough runs and races, but it’s just getting harder to keep up.

In other words, he’s gotten too big for us.

in his defense... he's a little more big time than most of us.
my strava has blown up a lot as well. one guy was a bit ahead of me and we turned around the same time. i caught up and passed him we kicked it a mile back to my hotel together. then learned we were both at the same conference as we finished at the same hotel. then got a follow from somebody else running the strip randomly.

LOL! That’s the advantage of being top 3 in every race you do. Plenty of pics. My middle of the pack efforts rarely include an on course pic!

Not big time but it’s getting tedious. I want everyone to know that I take joy in seeing people achieve active goals and gaining fitness, but the kudos thing is kinda hollow.
I mean I’ve only got a few followers but having to scroll through my feed to make sure I got everyone bums me out.
The freedom frosty finish pick is epic isn’t it? I love that picture. Lol

I know what you mean.

is that from the end of the race? because that's how i always picture myself looking when i'm finishing... not at your speed of course.
and agreed on kudos. i got on here to track my runs and motivate myself. it's obviously turned into more than that with trying to KOM segments and staying on the leaderboards of clubs. kudos are fairly meaningless. it's fun, but it's the same as a like on facebook, which i ditched a few years ago. at least strava doesn't get into politics.
these days i do it to encourage guys in the TD club and talk shite on the guys in my local group. it's awesome to see somebody like scooby go out there and start getting his times down.

Speaking of KOM, I started researching some segments near me. I know we’ve got some fast people around here (including some elite pros) but these 4:30/mile from overweight girls has me doubtful

Yeah, that one and my current profile pic are end of race photos. The Valentines finish pic is a longer race and I ran a faster 5k in the 8k then the 5k Frosty race pic.
Goes to show what racing in 10mph wind vs 30 is like.
@ HB Huge pet peeves are with bikists KOMing running segments. Just flag em.
