I’m really loving the lunges. First week I was worried but now reverse lunges are my favorite. I love that hard to walk feeling for a bit when I’m done. I’ve been doing 30s going forward and 15s in reverse.

I took a rest day yesterday because I felt really weird after taking allergy meds. Gonna hammer day 3 this afternoon and then do day 4 Saturday before watching the baseball game.

The squats and deadlifts being 75% and higher reps instead of the heavy doubles/triples of pool season 2 are a lot easier on my back. I find these full body workouts more exhausting during them, but I seem to be recovering faster than with I did with pool seasons or strongville.

//edit: w2d3 down. Added 5 lbs to the dbs for Bulgarians, rows, shoulder press, and all the goblets. Feel great after, but I worry my arms are suffering by being out of gas by the time I hit them. I’m looking forward to bb squats and bench press tomorrow!

I’ll be off grid for a week due to vacation. Looking forward to playing catch up when I get back.

Week 2 done. Definitely not my favorite program, but we’re halfway there.

Day 1 week 3 done. And agree this isn’t my favorite program. I’m loving the lower body focus, but I find this one is very unoriginal. It’s the same exact workouts every week but changes the reps up. It’s getting monotonous.

W3D1 done

Overall pretty easy day. Felt like I still had more in the tank for the deadlifts. Only real difficult part was the last set of OHP and BB curls after I bumped up the weight.

Overall the program is meh. I hate that it's only 1 day of BP and it's been relatively low weight since it's not the focus of the day. I've been adding BP focused workouts on Wednesday/Sunday and another DL/Upper body day on Saturday. I have begun to really like the DB REFSS and lateral lunge sets. I feel they have helped tremendously with balance. I don't care for the reverse walking lunges currently; my balance isn't quite there for them yet. The workouts are also on the longer side since there is only 1 SS/day.

I still find these all body workouts pretty taxing; by the time I get to the arms superset I have a real tendency to just “do what I did last time to get done” rather than really pushing it on arms and the cardio exercises. This could partly be because the workouts are long and it’s hot in my gym and we have been supersetting some of the stuff in the top of the workouts too.

We are using 100% of our TMs this months on the big lifts, so they are still a progression from last month and only the bench has been easy with those TMs. We have also either added more sets, gone with heavier weights, or AMRAPPEd the top set for squats and bench all month trying to break rep PRs. I’m kinda enjoying the higher rep sets and taking it as a sort of deload for my back and joints.

I don’t find the bench to be too little really; I take flat bench and incline db press to failure 2x a week in 8-10 working sets which seems fine since I’m also going hard on the OHP/db press days too. I certainly don’t feel like I need 3 more heavy bench days a week on top of this program lol.

//edit I do agree that this program isn’t really all that fun once you get past the novelty of doing hip thrusts

Don't get me wrong, I'm typically spent by the end of the workout. I moved to 95% TM during PS2; for Peachy I bumped 3 main lifts up by 5/10 lbs. I've also been adjusting the fill-in-the-blank weights as I go. By the last set I'm pretty close to failure (and occasionally fail to hit the reps). Squat days are legit. DL is kind of hit or miss on intensity. Today for instance, I could've done more. However, I stick to the workouts as written (when all possible). By the time I get to BP on Friday's, I usually don't want more (THAT session).

I just don't like that BP isn't the focus on any day. There's several elements to Peachy that I enjoy, I just don't think I like the main focus being all lower body. RFESS, Goblet Squat (specifically wide stance), and Lateral Lunges are new pieces that I want more of. I miss skullcrushers, band pull aparts, and some of the other DB stuff. That (and I like starting my days at 5am in the gym; makes me feel super productive) is why I've been adding some of the PPSA IG workouts on Wed, Sat, and Sun. It's a little tricky picking a plan that avoids the main lifts back to back, but it's doable. Wed is BP, Sat is DL, and Sun is BP.

Well SORRY, I'll never suggest another program again.

But for real, I do wish there was some more changing up of the exercises a bit. I like the new stuff and there is more of that in this plan than the last several. I just today really figured out how to do those lateral lunges. I was putting all the weight on my knee and it was killing me. Today it felt like I was loading up the glutes on the way down and they felt much better.

Another new exercise I really like is the overhead tricep extentions and I think reverse lunges are my favorite part of the plan now.

Overall I'm happy with it and I kind of like doing pullovers before bench on fridays.

Keep the suggestions coming! I was pumped for this one, but I just thought there would be more variability.

All I know is I'm ready for October. he posted today that we are 104 days away!

If it came across wrong, I apologize. I'm happy to go with new suggestions and try new things. Sometimes they workout, sometimes they don't; thus is life.

I do enjoy both the DB pull overs and OH tricep extensions. I've had both of those several times in the past. Something about those pullovers just feels like an extremely deep and satisfying pull.

W3D2 down

These plans are long. It was 1:55 today. I went back thru my notes and D2 was 1:50-1:55 for the previous weeks also. I try to stick to 1:30-2min on the rests. I know some of you change it up a bit and incorporate supersets to speed it up. Is there a real downside to that besides not being rested for the next lift?

Squat felt a little easier today with the higher weight/lower rep combo. DB RDLs were solid. Rows were a little weird as I had to use the EZ Curl bar since no regular bars were free. Think the hand position affected me as I needed to use a little lighter weight than planned. Really enjoyed the pullovers, I feel them all the way down my side and ribs on the higher reps. I was able to push the weight some on the DB Press since it was a little lower reps also. Ending with those damn hip thrusters... Reps 1-5 had me questioning if I used too little weight. By 10, I figured the weight was correct. The face I made for reps 11-15 is usually reserved for my wife.

We got w3d1 done just now. Everything felt good, really liking the lateral lunges as a finisher/stretch with light weight. Working my way up in weight on bulgarians: w1d1 I used 45s for 3x5 and today was 55s for 4x8. I actually failed at 12 reps on last set of OHP; I am gonna have a shoulder pump for a while.

Not sure if this is the best thread for this, but is there any prep for Squatober? This'll be my first one to join. Trying to figure out my July-Sept plans.

Also out of town so I'll be making up W3D3 and D4 Saturday and Sunday.

Got all my bench reps in but barely. Maybe had one more in the tank.

W3D3 done

Back in town and knocked out this one. Nothing felt especially hard, but I worked up a good sweat right off the bat. I did notice some discomfort in my right hip pretty early on. It made me a little more cautious on the wide stance goblet squats.
