Obstacle Course Race Training

I've signed up for the Terrain Race in New Orleans on 11/9. Any tips on training leading up to it? I feel like CrossFit is probably pretty good training but I'll need more running.

do you know some of the obstacles?
crossfit should help if there are any rope climbs, wall climbs, monkey bars, etc
most other things are probably just pure cardio based, which crossfit will also help with
if this is anything like the few obstacle runs I've done, running isn't that much of a concern since you will more than likely have plenty of time to rest while waiting for your turn on the obstacle when you get to it

Our races are based around a 5k structure, so you can generally expect about 3 miles of mud, walls, ropes, monkey bars, and 20+ other examples of anything we're able to fit into the unique terrain of each venue we visit.
I dont see a list of obstacles on the website. But I did find this video
I just want to have something to train for and to complete it. The rope climb, monkey bars, and tarzan swing will probably be the most difficult for me being overweight, but I can practice rope climbs at the gym. I just don't have the upper body strength for that tarzan swing.

Focus on grip strength and running hills. Dead Hangs and Hill runs will help you power over 80% of the challenges in these races. I did this last year will doing a Spartan Trifecta. If you are decently athletic which I think you are if I remember your post history then you should be totally fine.

Did Spartan Trifecta last year and finishing up one this year. I agree that grip strength is huge. i found a workout online that was a 4-5 day a week program to follow leading up to the race. It was a mix of Endurance/Conditioning/Power/Strength workouts.
The Terrain Race is only a 5k, so the running shouldn't be that big of deal. As crazy as this sounds, burpees are one of the best training exercises for terrain races. Here is a good video of the founder of the spartan race talking about the importance of burpees Spartan Founder - Ted Talk on Burpees
