Got some calf issues keeping me from running. Physical therapy sessions end with a quck massage. They say I've got quite a few knots in the affected calf. Is it worth getting a sports massage every other week or so? Does it help recovery in general? Does it really help to work out those legit muscle knots?

Eaux boy, prepare yourself for the foam roller crowd.

I foam roll sometimes. Did it today after my weekend bike ride. But I feel it might be easier and more relaxing to pay 45 bucks for a massage every once in a while instead of cringing through the pain of foam rolling a muscle that's already tight and painful

Won't be enough.

I use a rumble roller every night and put a sandbag on my shin for extra pressure

Grab a kettlebell, place tight calf on the handle, place other leg on top to weigh it down, roll hurt leg left to right

hit this all over your legs.. calves, quads, hammies, inner thigh, outer, hips, groin.. get in there deep, you will get up walking differently

one of these pinned between the wall and your shoulder, chest, back, glutes etc works wonders too

cheap and you don't need another person to help you.
