I mostly like to run and have biked VERY little over the last few years. Wanting to kinda mix some biking back into my routine though. I have done some research and concluded that a Hybrid would prob be my best choice for my intended use. Are there any solid options out there for under 500$. I'm usually not a tightwad but with work kinda shaky I don't wanna spend a ton right now. TIA.

How much per week and what distances running are you doing? That will determine you’re needs IMO.

I'm running 25-35 miles/wk. Would like to bike another 30-50 miles/wk. Will mostly be around my neighborhood or within 10 miles on roads. I may want to occasionally get out on the trails with it but it wouldn't be that often.

Specialized Allez

Perfect starter bike.

OP: if you're going to be potentially riding 50 miles a week I'd check out some used road bikes.

For $500 you could look used or bikes direct. You need a good bike fit, that's $300.

I concur with Specialized Allez, you can find a good pre-owned one on eBay for around $500. I race Ironman’s so a goood bike fit is essential for me, but for someone doing 10-15 miles around the neighborhood I think you could go to a local bike shop and pay them $50-80 to fit you good enough.

I ended up getting a road bike. Found a Trek Equinox 7 in great condition for 300$ on Facebook marketplace. Don't know much about Trek but it's a good looking bike and rides good.

I found a 2014 Allez for $350 relatively locally. Pulling the trigger

Meeting at a local bike shop to have them inspect and clean the bike. They're charging $40 which I thought was reasonable.

Anything I should be wary of?

The bike needs to fit you, for you to avoid repetitive motion injuries. It will also ensure you are getting power to the pedals efficiently.
