Everything within good ranges except HDL (34 but should be over 39)

61 yo
6'4" 236

Here is what I do now and what I will add:

Currently work outs 3 or 4x a week (P90X3). Will increase to 5x.
Current workout include Yoga, MMX, and weights. More MMX (boxing/cardio).
More walking to suppliment workouts.
Weight loss goal to get to 200 lbs.
Take a tbl spoon of coconut oil.
Cut out all sodas and drink water.
Current supplements: Vit D, Zinc, CoQ10,Tumeric
Medications? 2 different BP meds, Flonase, Statin

What else should I be doing?

Eat clean, cut down booze if you haven’t already. Add fish/krill oil and psyllium husk fiber supplementation.

Man, I would clean up the diet big time! Low carb high fat That should get rid of most of your needs for those meds specifically the statin.

What were your triglyceride numbers?

It’s a simple benefit to risk ratio

huh? statins are the ultimate in benefit to risk

the muscle soreness/stiffness is the same as in a sugar pill

liver/kidney damage is very rare

insulin response/blood sugar increase is so minor it might as well not be talked about

the effects ont he brain are mixed and any negative effct has been show to be mitigated once the statin is stopped.

im not a big medicine person but statins should be like floride and put in the water supply imo. Maybe not that far but people should not be scared of them no matter where you fall on the cholestrol code.

High intensity workouts, max HR, raise HDL. I also believe eating almonds daily has help me raise mine too.

The $100 Billion Dollar Ingredient making your Food Toxic

Avoiding the vegetable/seed oil tom foolery apparently helps everything. There's even an eight year study showing how it's those dirty oils wrecking everything. It helps show why you can pretty well eat anything as long as it doesn't have those oils and your health will be astronomically better.

As someone who has never gotten their HDL above 30, I can tell you everything that supposedly raises your HDL, but nothing has worked for me.

I exercise 2 hours a day 5 days a week in two 1 hour sessions. My job is also physically active.
I consume 5 grams of fish oil daily along with a bunch of other vitamins.
I eat fish whether salmon, sardines, mahi-mahi, and tuna at least 3 times a week.
My diet is low carb, less than 50 grams a day.
I eat one meal a day 5 days a week, and lunch and supper on the weekends.
I avoid seed oils like the plague.
My BMI is below 25
My triglycerides are below 100
I’m not on any medication

I’m at the point where I just think for whatever reason my HDL will never be in the normal/good range. However, I’m no quitter, I’ve recently added consuming a 1/4 cup olive oil to my regiment and I’ve been told HDL takes time to move, so be patient and stick with changes for awhile before deciding if they are moving the needle.

My HDL roams around low 30s too. Just started doing cardio, see if it helps.

At least my cholesterol is solidly under 200.

Wow. Good information here and good luck to you. My BP issues are congenital (hereditary), but I still have a goal of losing 30 lbs.

I will do a full blood workup very soon. The lipid panel test was an insurance premium reduction.
