I don’t drink soda per say, but I do drink a lot of zero calorie energy drinks

People of course say they are awful for you, but whatever. I’ve dropped 50+ pounds since switching from the ones that contain sugar (not the only change I made)

had to quit energy drinks completely. was making my anxiety off the charts. just do coffee now

Everyone that drinks diet drinks should replace it with Topo-chico or topo-chico with twist of lime

Agree 100%. I quit drinking coke about 7 years ago. topo chico with a squeeze of lime is the best!

Lots of research that says that diet soda and/or artificial sweeteners do not cause weight gain.

Dr. Layne Norton is a huge advocate on this and provides tons of research to back it up. Its his pet peeve when people claim diet soda causes cancer and weight gain.

Diet Soda does not cause people to gain weight, being in a calorie surplus does, end of story.

If it satisfies a sweet tooth or hunger pains, why not? Like everything else, in moderation.

It’s like anything else. Too much is bad for you. But one drink on a weekend won’t kill you. It’s probably better than regular Coke or alcohol.

I have 1 Coke Zero every weekday afternoon to help me get through work. Then drink La Croix to help stay away from alcohol

Not ideal... but better than alternative lol

For me it is about the caffeine, I think. Something about drinking too many makes me crash later and when that happens I crave sugar etc. When I stick to just water I feel much better throughout the day.

That is just me. No scientific study or anything.

I have always been in support of drinking diet drinks, in moderation. But recently I have been doing some extended fasts and noticed that they undoubtedly lead to hunger. Is that exclusive to fasts? I’m not sure. I just stick to the carbonated water with natural flavor (no Splenda or aspartame etc.)

I drink as much diet soft drinks as I want, no noticeable effect in any way.

How can you tell if you always drink them? There's no way of you knowing if you would feel differently if you didn't drink them.

I have a hard time believing ingesting a bunch of shite made in a lab has zero effect on the body.

I agree. It may not add calories to your diet, but I doubt it’s a healthy option. Drinking one occasionally won’t hurt you, but it shouldn’t be a regular drink.

Man I need to give up that daily 12 ounce Redbull. Sodas I drink if they are available. But that morning Redbull is like crack

Switch to a cup of black coffee.

More caffeine than Redbull and better for you too.

I drink a few Coke Zeros a week and a Diet Mountain Dew about five days a week. I am 6'1" and have been a few pounds either side of 175 since 1978. Does not affect me but helps with my sweet tooth. I drink water after I work out, otherwise makes me really hungry.

I went 8-9 months logging every thing I ate and exercised into My Fitness Pal while doing P90X twice.

Took a 5 week break in between but still tracked stats.

Tanita scale weight every day at the same time. Kept all the stats from it, daily. Weight, Body Fat %, Water weight %, Gut fat and the rest.

After being my own 6’ lab rat, a 12 oz diet soda impacted my body the same as 350-400 additional calories.

There may be studies X, Y and Z that say different things but I believe my own experience to be valid and I will drink a regular soda over a diet one, if forced to make the choice. But I really don’t drink any soda at all.

Give me Yerba Matte tea, water, Zip Fizz, La Croix or similar and I’m good.
