For several months now, maybe almost a year, I’ve had a pain inside my left knee whenever I straighten out my leg and flex my thigh (or at least try to). This pain only occurs when I perform that specific action. It doesn’t affect me doing any type of leg workouts, running or walking. I have also previously made an effort to keep as much stress off the knee as possible and it still hurts now as much as it did when I first noticed it. I can’t figure out what it is. Anyone had this issue before, could it be tendinitis? I’m also in my 20s.

I can answer any questions that might help this diagnosis.

It’s likely inflammation. Eat a ketogenic diet and that will go away.

Prolly tendinitis. Keto can help some, but working on ankle and hip mobility is what going to be a more permanent solution.

Usually tendinitis is caused by overuse or it's because of lack of mobility of the joints above and below the joint that has tendinitis.

My first guess is over use. It feels like it’s in the patellar tendon, or in that area at least. I also sit on my knees a lot because of wrestles leg syndrome but I switch legs a lot so I don’t see how only 1 knee would be affected.

If patellar tendinitis is suspected start doing some iso lunges. Look up David Grey on Instagram. I’ve taken his courses and done Skype calls with him for my sons knee pain. Helped tremendously after seeing multiple docs and PTs.

Patellar should be straight up and down the middle over the kneecap. If you think it's the side, I might hesitate on labeling it patellar.

Does your knee joint have lateral instability? If you damaged your MCL, it probably would.

The inside of the knee has some bursa sacs and apparently (I googled) something called plicae that can be irritated.

Obviously you should get it checked out by a doctor to rule out something else. But after being told by my dr that I'm getting older, deal with it, the best thing I ever did for my aging knees is start a regular intake of turmeric (1,000 mg / day) as an anti-inflammatory. I'd tried glocosamine and other joint regmines with no improvement - not saying they don't work, they don't work for ME. After I started turmeric my knee pain went away in about a week or so and at first I thought it was a fluke. So I stopped taking it and the pain came back. Resumed the turmeric, pain went away. I'm convinced.

ETA: You need one that includes black pepper extract to ehance the turmeric abosorption.

That's exactly where it feels like.
